Critical care in india is hacked by ISCCM. 1. Very recently they officially announced any person who is MBBS can be intensivist. No need of MD , DNB, DM, DrNB. Just Mbbs and 2 to 3 years experience in critical care and U are officially intensivist .. eligible to work as SR, In coporate hospital. myself doing my DrNB after MD and my senior is plane MBBS. 2. ISCCM is hell bent to introduce new cources of critical care like neuroCC, ObsCC, etc . In reality these are not more than a single chapter in Critical care. 3. Un recognised courses are rulling Critical care now. One can become intensivist more than 5 to 6 Ways. Like IDCCM, IFCCM, PDCC, EDIC, DrNB, even 6 to 12 month fellow. Corporate wants labour who can work as watchman in night. 99% places Critical care are reeling like these. May be future will be not that grim. But critical care has lost its lusture thanks to some opportunist ISCCM stalwarts.
