Hi David, Great video... I have a 2017 Tundra which I love... Two things about the new Tundra that made me stay away are: 1 the twin turbo V6 because I tend to keep vehicles for as long as possible. Time will tell but I think the twin turbo v6's won't last as long without without major expensive problems. The second thing is the new Tundra looks great UNTIL I see the front of it which is enough for me to say I'd NEVER own one. I say all that because at 5:17 I think the Tacoma's frontend looks great the white that divides the grill is what the Tundra is missing. When you were talking about the Tacoma's EPS I noticed the frame is a box frame unlike the Tundra I own which will be more rigid than say my C- Channel (except the front portion) on my Tundra. I've been saying I'll have to keep my Tundra forever but after watching this video I may very well consider the new Tacoma. Maybe I missed it because I was focusing on the look of the new Tacoma so I'm going to watch this video again to see if you talked about the differences between the TRD Pro vs the TrailHunter... Again Great Video I'll definitely be checking out the new Tacoma when I can.

Hi David, first of all I want to say just how much I appreciate your channel, you provide exactly the kind of information I look for when it comes to cars. Secondly you recently made a video about the Alfa Romeo Stelvio which I really enjoyed. I am constantly torn between going for a Lexus like an IS or going a totally different direction and buying an Alfa Romeo Giulia. I would really appreciate it if you could do a video comparing the build quality of these two cars, or at least covering how well Alfas are built these days. They always had a bad reputation for build quality but people say things have improved a lot, I would love to hear your view on this, as well as the differences in driving dynamics between these two. Keep up the good work, you are a master of your craft and people like me who appreciate quality owe you a lot

One statistic emphasizes how much I look forward to driving the new Tacoma and seeing how it performs: 465 lb-ft of torque starting at 1700RPM. That is way more torque, and way earlier, than the outgoing engine.

Sure it’s all good and I like the look of this new 2024 Tacoma but I’m sure it’s going to be like every other truck out there today very expensive especially for the crew cab with all the bells and whistle’s which you know they’ll push to sell. I was looking forward to the new extended cab version of the new Tacoma, not everyone need or want a crew cab, but now Toyota for some reason decided to do away with the small back doors on the extended cab model and not only that they cheapened the area behind the front seats plastic everywhere which I’m ok with. And of course you won’t be able to order one the way you want with extra options like the crew cab. So like my 1989 Toyota extended cab pickup I’ll have to push the seat forward to be able to get whatever I need from behind the front seats. When the new Tacoma was revealed, I believe in Hawaii, one of the press reviewers said that Toyota decided to do away with the rear access doors for safety but I’m sure it’s to save money. So for now I’ll just hold on to my old Toyota extended cab pickup. Who knows maybe in the next year or two Toyota will decide to bring back the access doors on their new Tacoma to make it easy to load and unload items from behind the front seats. But the way it looks I won’t hold my breath for that to happen. Probably Toyota will come up with the excuse to do away with the extended cab because no one is buying it according to them. So they’ll just do away with it and just concentrate on the crew cab.

My concern is the battery and what the trade in price would be at 8 to 10 years. I would probably stick with just the turbo engine. If trade in price drops a lot at 10 years or so maybe I should trade in around 6 years because of the battery. If that is the case then long term toyota quality seems to not be as big of an issue. Most vehicles have few problems at the 5 year mark so maybe another brand is on the table now??? Not sure. Just confused with all this HEV/EV stuff and long term. At 10 to 12 years do I need to spend another $10K+ for a new battery?? Not sure if that is worth it.

Isn't the tow capacity still at least 6500 lbs?? If I some wannabe trucker towing more than that, I would just step up to a full-size truck. As far as real-world towing, provided they got the reliability right, which I bet they did, the new engine makes waaaaay more torque than the wheezy outgoing 3.5L V6, and it makes that torque a looooot earlier in the RPM band. I highly doubt very many people are going to drive a 2023 and 2024 Tacoma back to back and think the 2023 V6 towed better. Or did much of anything better. That motor was quite unimpressive in that application, just not enough displacement for the truck in N/A form.

@thatoneotherotherguy Жыл бұрын
@@timalan7406 I would say it is. When in naturally aspirated form, the 3.5L did not have enough grunt for proper truck things or large tires. They come horribly geared, but changes axle gear ratios doesn't solve it either. I much prefer the older 4.0L, had more torque, and that more torque was lower down in the rev range. 3.5 liters was not quite enough liters. Now if they had added dual injection to the 4.0L at some point, that could've been really nice.
