Great design and build. Have you thought of a goby design. They have invaded Lake Michigan and surrounding streams. They are now in the food chain so I would think they would be a good bait fish design. They look a little like a sculpin and came into the Great Lakes from Russian cargo ships dumping ballast. Love your builds. Thanks

The fin on the bottom does nothing but look cool...When you put one on top it can really change the action.

Hello Franco Love the new video but I have some questions. If you are going to use this lure where it is going to get damaged and you are going to make more replacements Why don’t you make a mold use the 2 part epoxy resin with the micro balloons, once you figure out what you need you can quickly make more. Also, isn’t that material tougher than pvc trim? Also, you can color the resin so you don’t have to paint it, you could probably add some glitter for shine Anyway, keep the videos coming I look forward to them every week

Beautiful lure. I had to start this hobby because of you and people like you. I just designed 2 lures with 3d program and produced on 3d printer with PLA material. But I couldn't catch the action as I wanted. So I designed new versions. Now I m waiting for prototypes. I will produce the lures with epoxi if I success. Can you give me advise if I send the drawings ?

Franco I need help figuring out why my lures after correcting the lip and adding more weight. Why they still swim on their side and not upright
@DonkersDilatata3 жыл бұрын
nice work, good explanation, i have a question, does this principle of 15% more weight work on every density of wood or are there some variables on the different types of wood
@EngineeredAngler3 жыл бұрын
It works pretty well on low density wood like camphor and cedar, but it's an estimate intended to make sure the lure is heavy enough to sink. If your trying to achieve a more refined sink rate, you'll need a more accurate method. And you apply the 15% to the calculated weight, to be added, not to the total weight, in case I didn't make that clear in the video. Thank you.

Great job! I really like your approach to luremaking. Do you think this could be made even bigger and maybe have a spinner blade added at the back of it (kind of like the Molix Spin Shad)? Think this might be a great choice for pike in pelagic waters as well.

Possibly! Let me know if you try it...and it works.

Dip coatings are more practical. Epoxy turns yellow and leaves an un aesthetic mark on the bait lip. Which one do you consider as the final coating? Standard epoxy + hardener Allumi UV resin KBS clear diamond finish Solmaster lv 1 uistinlakka Accel Urethane lr+ Accel Cellulose Cement Nagashima Cellulose Clear

Is the "popsicle" anal fin needed for stability or is it more ornamental? Have you found a relationship between the length and the required maximum width? Any important relationship between where the line tie is located and the location of the forward hook? Great looking lure. Would be a killer fishing among rock piles for striped bass.
@EngineeredAngler3 жыл бұрын
The anal fin is just for looks on this one...the ratio of length to thickness is so dependent on the shape that it's hard to say what is optimal. I like to keep it around 8-9 to 1 (length : thickness) with an absolute minimum thickness of 3/16 inch. Thanks for watching,
@sufferedenuf3 жыл бұрын
Loved it! One question: have you tried the black clips on the end of the line? They are flat black and won't distract from the lure.

Yes...I have the black ones as well. Thank you for watching.

Hi Franco. I have decided to make some 6 ins Plugs from a convenient broom handle and wanting them to be Pilchard/Sardine shaped and weighing about 60 grms for catching saltwater Bass here in the UK. I have taken lots of your advice and shaped down some already. My real Query is, if I make a Top Water lure should it float level and if I make a Sub Surface Lure should it sit tail down ??? I want to Walk the Dog with both types. I have large split shot to achieve the balance I require. I really enjoy your videos and would really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance. Hartley Pascoe
@EngineeredAngler3 жыл бұрын
The short answer is that moving the weight back on your lure will usually results in easier walk-the-dog action. But I suggest you watch this video for a better understanding. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5TUeoyDpNF7bNU

Yup, I’m more confused about the weighting. Curious my you don’t melt lead? Maybe the obvious health risks/fumes etc. Beautiful bait and great timing as I am mid build on something similar.
@EngineeredAngler3 жыл бұрын
You're right...I have a small space and lead fumes are really bad for you. Also, how would one weight out and exact amount of l molten lead? Good question though...probably lots of folks wondering the same thing. Cheers.
@paddlehooked46873 жыл бұрын
@@EngineeredAngler I’ve been using round split shots for bait building myself and had been contemplating getting a lead pot but concerned regarding fumes and can’t seem to justify the spend when splitshots work well enough thus far. Good to see a veteran builder like you doing it this way.
