I don't get people arguing about engineering, it's a MMO guys, it's like to argue about the fact in WoW you need 40 people to do a Raid...
@Corias1Ай бұрын
This is one of the reasons why I tell people the Anvil Liberator is one of the best ships not in the game, it's a big ship on paper but requires a max of two people to operate, can carry people, cargo, ground vehicles, ships; and serve as a base of operation for smaller orgs but with a minimum crew.
@Mike5BrownАй бұрын
I'm guessing that component class (military, civilian, industrial) is going to dictate a lot about maintenance.
@CasaBLACKАй бұрын
And it looks like component changes are already showing up in Evocati.. I'm excited for rep based parts that we can have access to buy or earn as rewards in game..

I am a player like many in this game who have a limited amount of playable time. I most play solo as my colleagues also have limited time which doesn't always overlap with my schedule. So if I can not fly large ships solo then I shouldn't buy large ships. I don't know how many orgs will buy these ships but to some degree they are narrowing their market to groups exclusively and on some scale that is a loss of potential revenue. I will of course respect CIG's game integrity and confirm my consumerism to the limits imposed.
@RSpracticalshootingАй бұрын
I think it'll likely be like other MMOs where solo play is completely viable but the breadth of content for group play will be much larger.
@JamestheKilljoyАй бұрын
This is a multiplayer game aiming to be the biggest MMO ever made. They have never eluded to these large ships being meant to fly solo. If you want to still try and fly solo, feel free. But, time to start getting used to the idea of playing with others if you want the full experience they are offering. They are plenty of good Orgs to join to get this experience without having to convince your personal friends to play

As a solo player the zues is probably going to be my limit, even that might be a push until the NPC or AI blades become a thing. People who complain about the engineering changes are most likely new-ish people to SC. This was always going to be the plan from way, way back when we used have 10 for the chairman. Same goes for the physical inventory and no magic bags to carry everything. Thanks for vid.
@Observer_CustosАй бұрын
That is a reason I've decided that it is very unlikely I'll pledge for a ship larger than the Zeus without really questioning the purchase as while getting a crew isn't too hard it can be time consuming. But that is why I'm keeping ships like the Cutter Rambler, Vulture, and the Nomad in my fleet. But I'll also enjoy my Zeus and Vulcan (When they are released)
@CasaBLACKАй бұрын
Very good point and yeah I think people who play but do not study up on what the game has been promising are those who have been caught off guard by this.
@CasaBLACKАй бұрын
@@Observer_Custos Yeah I mean 2-3 players is what most will be and also why I think CIG sells many more of those ships. My most popular videos are for ships in the medium range.
@Observer_CustosАй бұрын
@@CasaBLACK it's also why the Taurus is a popular cargo ship despite being large it really only needs a crew of 3 with no Snub fighter compared to other Connies. Just a pilot a gunner and a tractor beam operator. And since you don't typically fight and tractor beam at the same time the person for the unused turret works as an engineer once that gameplay is in the game.
@NUM-19Ай бұрын
While I agree with the idea of large ships requiring crew, I'm not sure there's many people who will want to spend their gameplay session standing at a engineering terminal while their friend plays the game.
@Stormyy6310Ай бұрын
I do hope it's not like that and you're not forced to have a player who spends their entire session looking at a screen and occasionally messing with a few buttons so other can play because yeah in this case large ships are dead and I don't see a way they could effectively be used, I mean they're already force nullifiers but with this nobody would play them
@cyanetica4802Ай бұрын
I really like the changes this system will most probably bring and I hope we will get more small to medium sized allrounders instead of huge vessels only some orgs will be able to effectively use. Also why do people even complain about the critical powerplants? It's still better than just exploding right away if you can do something about it.
@Rift_131Ай бұрын
I share the exact same sentiment on the larger ships. I will also likely be playing solo or with 2-3 others at most so buying the big ships is a no-go with the exception of the Carrack for if my multiplayer situation changes. Beyond that, 1-3 player crew size ships is the sweet spot.
@CasaBLACKАй бұрын
Agreed.
@LambonightsАй бұрын
The sweet spot, as with many other space sims, is the mid-sized ship category. In Star Citizen terms, that is starting around ships the size of the Freelancer series and ending at around those of the Connie series. If you're a solo player, go no bigger than this. Mid-sized ships give you the best of both worlds. You can still fly them, mostly solo, enjoy their better firepower and larger cargo holds and other capabilities, yet they also have room also to bring friends around too. There are outliers too of course, like the Liberator, C2, but mostly, it's all about the Mid-sized ship class. At least until AI Blades and or NPC crews are brought into the game. For CIG, this will be a desirable thing to do as it will make bigger ships viable again to some extent, but there is no guarantee this will happen anytime soon. If you really want a big ship, my advice is just get a cheap CCU and sit on it. Wait and see what happens.

I can see a whole lot less larger ships being used in game if engineering becomes too granular and multi crew must be a thing to use them.
@CasaBLACKАй бұрын
I think so too, or else jujst a lot of mistakes being made by pilots still trying to use them.
@spookytooth2024Ай бұрын
Apart from repairing during and after combat I wonder just how big a role the engineer will have in game? Will there really be a place for a full-time position as engineer. To justify it is the general integrity of the ship going to be nerfed that you need someone sitting there to hold it all together? I’ll be interested to see how this pans out. Also I can’t see CIG doing anything that’s going to affect potential ship sales, especially the larger expensive ones.
@CasaBLACKАй бұрын
I think for normal play its just a maintenance thing, but with every encounter with other players or NPC's it will be more useful. Lets say you play solo a lot and are bad about maintaining. Then that 30th trip you take thats normally safe you get jumped by an NPC.. Those faulty systems might bite you in the ass. For those who combat a lot, they will have to do more upkeep and see more out of the system.
@spookytooth2024Ай бұрын
@@CasaBLACK I like the idea of taking care of your gear and I’m all for that kind of gameplay. Makes more sense than engineering being a full time role 😊👍
@Stormyy6310Ай бұрын
the problem is when most of those ships already require half the server to run them because of all the turrets, the crew requirements are just ridiculous and worst of all multicrew ships act as a force nullifier instead of a force multiplier like they should be, they're just not worth using, as long as it is that way multicrew ships are bound to be doomed which is why I do hope that's a "side thing" and you don't actually *need* to have someone spend their entire gaming session looking at a screen and messing with a few things inside the ship so others can fly it
@JamestheKilljoyАй бұрын
First of all, no ship, even the biggest ones, require half the server just for the turrets. Already you sound like an idiot. But, also, ppl can soon get out of the turrets and do other useful things around the ship instead of just sitting around taking screenshots. If you want to play solo, there are ships for that. Sounds like big ships are just too much for you. Leave them to the orgs and people with friends
