Awesome! Nice area!. One of my go to places for nice walleye is the spill way in New Cumberland WV. The Ohio River always has nice fish to be caught.

@@mikebaumeister5690 what do you recommend for bait or lure if you don’t mind me asking?! I was just there last Saturday. Only caught 1 walleye. Slow bite. But two weeks prior when I went down the cats where hitting hard and I also got 1 saugeye.
@mikebaumeister56902 жыл бұрын
@@77Datsun280z The 2 rigs that I use for wipers are a night crawler under a slip bobber and a 3/8 ounce jig head with a Berkeley gulp minnow. I haven’t had any luck there with walleyes or cats unfortunately. I just cast as close to the gate as possible when the wipers are chasing the baitfish.
@77Datsun280z2 жыл бұрын
@@mikebaumeister5690 sweet, thanks! I’ve give you a tip for catching walleye, sauger, saugeyes. I typically use a 3/8 or 1/2 jig head with a spinner. Now I will either use a 4inch Mr. Twister twister tail, and the color is called motor oil (green with red flake) OR I will use a 2.8 or 4inch Keitech fat swing impact, yellow/green chartreuse or clear chartreuse with blue flake on those jig heads. You will catch them on those, but I typically fish down past the wall of the dam. Last year I caught a 5.2lb walleye less than 15ft from the shoreline using a twister tail.

I've been fishing a 180 acre community lake in KS, on and off, for about 6 years. One evening while Bass fishing I caught around 5 nice Wiper's on a spinner. Haven't caught any since. Just a fluke they were in a shallow cove where I was fishing.

@@EngineeringHooksets I am pretty sure the wildlife people don't want anyone catching fish period. So, they dream up rules. Also, I am told (haven't verified) that the governor appointed tree huggers to head the department.
@out_law_vinagre822 жыл бұрын
The part in the middle that you were standing on is there to cuase a break in the water incase something were to fall in and they would have to retreive it or to slow the water down if it floods out. It might also be an old dam gate that they tore down

I had zero luck on twister tails for the past 5-6 years. I almost exclusively threw flies in the meantime. Last fall, I started using a chartreuse moxi from BFIshN tackle and caught the most walleye and sauger that I’ve ever have 🤷♂️

The way you cast spinning reels is really interesting. I've never tried it that way. Does it add any distance?
@EngineeringHooksets2 жыл бұрын
It actually decreases distance but it adds casting speed + accuracy. In a small spot like this there is no need to chuck the bait super far so this method is generally superior. I'm gonna be making a full video on this casting method/flipping with a spinning setup very soon. Thanks for the comment! Nice profile pic btw, I used to play a lot of fallout
