India was exactly 180/5 in 40 overs. And then quickly they were 183/7, there I as an Indian fan feared India bundling under 200. But they somehow hung in there and reached 229 which was from Indian tail enders perspective a reasonable score. At the end of the first innings, I knew If India can take 2 early wickets they will not even be in the game but will win comprehensively. England had got a decent start, 30 odds for no loss, and then suddenly 33/3 and 40/4 and 98/8* This was always in the cart even before the start of the match, due to the form both the teams where in. Now England should focus on finishing at least up to position 7 for qualifying for the Champion Trophy.

For Indian fans. This was indeed splendid performance especially from bowlers. However,India has lot of work cut out to sort their batting issues especially,come during knockouts. Getting victory easily puts important weakness under the carpet and chances are high to get it exposed on a bad day when team really need efforts from that department. Today India’s some of batsman are still not clicking the way they should to pull of championship title. Iyer had ample amount of time to build his innings,concentrate on his short ball weakness. His careless shots proved,he will put India in tricky situation in crunch moments. Gill is still not on touch and is a sign of concern. KL Rahul had a chance to control the innings with Rohit for much longer time,but his strike rotation agnst quality attack is an issue and can cause major problems for India to put high score. Kohli has also need lot of improvement during batting first. He is still getting caught in somewhat midway either attack/defense during batting first. In a nutshell,if these departments not functioning well,Semis or Finals loss cannot be avoided. Same incident had took place during 2014 ICC world T20 finals agnst Srilanka. Hope some people are checking history🙏🙏🙏

@@mayank6236 I don’t think u should highlight pitch here. There was ample amount of time to build innings plus u had captain and settled batsman on other hand. These things do no matter in high pressure matches. U can do man to man comparison for batting with other 3 potential semis. NZ have majority of their batsman in good nick,except Phillips. Aus now have almost all batsman with good runs,plus they have played World Cup knockouts numerous times which gives them lot of advantage to handle pressure compared to other teams. SA regularly posting 350 plus score with solid middle order and Decock from top. You need some outstanding performance at ur back during crucial games to gain confidence. And it becomes more important thinking India will play their semis in Mumbai with smaller ground where there is good chance,if Indian batting does not click,it won’t be difficult for either of 3 other potential semis team to outbat India🙏🙏

Rohit , Kohli is in peak form . Kohli batting first once again will score big . Surya played well in tough conditions and would be impact player . won’t be harsh on KL as he played well against Aussie and not been bad . The prime concern is Shreyas and he needs to be dropped for Ishan Kishan until hardik is back . This team has weakness but it can’t be exploited in Indian conditions

It really isn’t nonsense though - it is simply maximizing where they’re strong (offensive capacity) and minimizing where they’re weak. Point is, they’ll lose in India regardless because their spinners are nowhere near as good, and nor is their batting on our pitches. Bazball still gives THAT team given their weaknesses, a better chance. Working on these weaknesses is more a long term question. For now, Bazball has done remarkably better than what came before.

Looking at the form of Indian batsmen, no doubt they are winning all the matches, but come the semis and finals, I still feel the same old problem will come back..The Indian batsmen still look weak and prone to collapse..I won't be surprised if they cut a sorry figure in semis/final when faced with one of the inform teams...I think as the tournament is progressing Aus is looking more promising and more than that showing more grit and mental toughness..In such crunch situations teams that can use their strength to the fullest have more chances of winning then not...and I see these qualities more in aus then any other team

The selectors are probably lamenting their decision to leave out Roy if it was indeed to accommodate Stokes. I am tired of the excuses for the abysmal performance this England team have produced so far in this world cup. These are professional cricketers that should understand how to play a 50 over game against a 20 over game, I mean its not rocket science yet time and again these players throw their wickets away playing shockingly bad shots. With just over 200 runs to get to beat India what do England do? Do they come out and play sensible cricket, knowing they have plenty of time to knock of the chased total, did they play themselves in? NOPE, first over Bairstow was swinging wildly at the ball and I was shaking my head in disbelief because I felt that we would once again bugger things up and guess what, we did. Root looked hopeless and this is JOE ROOT I am talking about, Stokes was out to a TRULY dreadful shot, he missed the ball by a country mile, it was laughable. All they had to do was play sensibly, take single, twos, threes, the occasional four ALONG THE GROUND and maybe a six IF it was safe to play but NO, thrashing the ball around from over number one and deflating like a badly mad souffle. Yes the Indian bowling attack was wonderful but we commit hari-kiri by playing such ridiculous shots over and over again

Guys great content, but I believe the difference I feel was English cricket has gotten very modern all of a sudden. Out with the old in with the new but very importantly as I understand it has created a issue where in every player has become one dimensional and this is appealing considering the mean age of the team. Every player seems to be a basher, yes that worked in England because of the true bounce and pace of the wicket. But again it has been abysmal considering they got a blueprint before the chase, someone like a character of Rohit had to stand up in the form of malan, bairstow or even jos could have come to open the batting which he does in other formats and control the strike from one end. Change is a necessity especially if you give the flowers to him to be a proactive leader while being pragmatic about the changes he was bringing on to bowl. Now if England has to succeed and continue these misadventures then, the captain has to open and steer the ship, other players can go one step down considering class still exudes them.

It's painful to watch. As an Indian, I can only sympathise with England's miseries. But really, like wtf is England doing? I don't care about an Indian win, I want a close exciting game. Losing by 100 runs when the target was only 230 was boring af. Can we please get these boys rested for a while so they can recharge, chill, do whatever they need to cuz I know they're all awesome cricketers. There is nothing I like more than watching England lose. They feel their team and winning in 2019 was amazing. And they were default champions. I hate this English team so much that it makes me happy watching them lose.

The next two wickets of Kohli and Iyer were gifted away more due to impatience of the batters, to force the pace on a sluggish pitch, than due to any venom in the bowling. By the end of the 12th over India were 40 for 3, and struggling to stay relevant for the next 38 overs. At 131 for 3, just as India were beginning to believe they were out of the woods; another irresponsible shot played on the still unforgiving pitch by Rahul spelt his doom and pegged back India’s renaissance. India needed Hitman Sharma to score a daddy hundred, but that was not to be, Rohit fell for a rather ambitious shot which was becoming a trend in this innings. With the Indian tail being as long as a dragon’s, it was left for SKY to do all the fire breathing. Unfortunately, SKY didn’t have enough fire in his belly to outlast the England bowling and perished in the 47th over. Finally, it was left to Bumrah to ensure that India did not get bowled out. England’s openers came on to the field with purpose. They were determined to prove that they are the defending champions for a reason. At 30 for no loss in 4.4 overs, it appeared that they were on track to prove their point. But, this Indian bowling unit is the best in business at the moment. In the next 5 overs, the packed stadium witnessed some of the finest seam bowling they would see for years to come. A mere 9 runs given and 4 wickets in the kitty. That broke the back of England’s resolve. From there on, it was not a matter of whether India will win - the question was, by what margin? There was no resistance from a side that boasts of batting till number 10. India won in style and confined England to the bottom of the table.

What are you talking about? Bazball is test cricket pal. Before Bazball we were great at white ball cricket. Truth be told, English fans only care about tests.

@@Bobertron199494 These kind of losses will have a cascading effect on other formats too. Also, they look kind of silly playing Bazball in the longer version and quite the opposite in ODIs. I believe there will be a lot of changes in the team as well as in their approach after this tournament.
