Adapting to different conditions, pace, spin etc and winning makes world champion. If you are looking for a specific wicket and only pace bowling then you are not eligible to progress forward. I'm shocked that even after playing in IPL, English players struggled and couldn't perform.

It is hard to understand that all Eng guys believe 50 over ODI is boring and very long format but support for boaring 5 days Test. I believe ODI gives complete balance of test+T20 mix as team get opportunity to comeback and change course of match and thus very entertaining, much more than test or any other T20 or T10, where good 2-3 over and one good day of any player decide the fate of that game.

Main fault was that England didn't have a match plan but Srilanka played a sensible game, in particular Nissanka and Samarawickrama, both were picking up singles and kept their wickets knowing that it's a 50 over game while England was careless on building up a partnership.

Really surprised & feeling sad to see such a poor performance by the mighty England team. I am following cricket world cups from 1983, the performance in this world cup is the worst by England team than their performance in the previous world cups. They were not favourites in 1987 Reliance World cup in India but they performed superbly & went in the final & almost won the cup if Mike Gatting had not lost the wicket by playing reverse sweep ( weird shot in that era). As far as I see it, as a true test cricket lover to the extent that I watched more than 700 tests of all teams in last 30+ years (I will watch couple of hours of even Zim vs BD if I am free), test cricket is the pinnacle of our sport and ODI WC is the absolute championship pinnacle of our sport. Test Cricket is like human life, full of second chances and it develops with the changing conditions and every test pitch is unique and it degrades differently but test cricket cannot produce a true world champion. The only proper world champion our sport can produce is in ODI Cricket and ODI WCs have to preserved. T20s also produce world champions but T20 Cricketers have have only specific skills and not have a variety of skills required to win in ODI Cricket. So, for me, ODI WC >> WT20 > World Test Championship (which is a bit of a joke even though bilateral white ball series are pretty meaningless).

Reasons for England loss: 1)Poor spin attack in sub-continent conditions (need 2-spinners like Ind/Afg, moen ali not used). 2)Poor seamer attack (Archer missing,need strong seamers). 3)Bowlers/Batters not adapting to pitch/conditions. Butler (inform batsman) should OPEN, not Johny baristow. 4)Bazbal type batting/T20 style wont work in ODI of 50 overs (need to play full 50 overs) 5)After Afg loss,morale fully down & confidence lost.Real Winners spring back, but English pride makes them think "how can i lose.." and that PRIDE is not helping them to forgive themselves 6)qualification for Top-8 for champions trophy has to be motivation. Most of ENG players were part of every seasons of IPL. That should improve their capability of playing cricket in very hot and humid weather. Englands "one day revolution" was always going to crash and burn. It was a house built on sand. It was based on producing the flattest of pitches, stacking the batting full of sloggers down to number 11 and asking them all to just slog from 1-11. The 2017 champions trophy semi final they complained the pitch was too slow for their style and that's why they lost, in 2019 they were very lucky to win that WC, they lost to aus Pak and sl in the group stages and scraped the final by overthrows by deliberate obstruction and boundary count. Stack the batting and and slog down to number 11, it has no subtlety and the same thing will happen with Bazball. Sustained success comes from quality all round cricket. Not go hell for leather and ignore the consequences when it doesn't come off. I think they believed their own hype after winning the t20 World Cup last year and being crowned "dual World Cup holders"

England weren't that brilliant in 2019, as they were prior to the tournament, they were on verge of losing semifinal berth in 2019, it wasn't aggresive cricket that won them that world cup, it was smart cricket, (only stokes), had they played aggresively in final they would have lost that final

I said it at the start of the World Cup. You’re not winning a World Cup with Dawid Malan in the side. It’s not him individually. It’s the attitude he brings , the self over team, the cagey approach to batting etc

As an Indian am ashamed of England cricket team for letting the world cricket fans down. I have never seen a top side play such poor cricket in a tournament. Getting defeated is one thing, but giving up from the first ball without any respect to the game and to the World Cup! ECB has insulted the sport of cricket by such sportsmanship and need to be called out!
