Just to let you know... as a Mexican native who lives in Monterrey, Mexico, i can tell you all something... there are soft tacos and tacos dorados... the "hard taco shell " is actually a taco tostado which is not the same as dorados, dorados are not as hard as a tostada, and when we Mexicans in Mexico do a hard taco, we use a "tortilla roja" not the same yellow tortillas, they are called tostitacos by the way = "tostada + taco"

The taco is more than the shell. An authentic tortilla is corn based and is used for tacos and other types of Mexican dishes. A true Mexican taco is a soft shell tortilla with meat (usually carne asada, goat meat, tongue, cheek, NEVER chicken) with cilantro and onions and usually with the option of putting salsa on it.

@TITANICLUSITANIA9 жыл бұрын
Saludos. :)
@Da2hR9 жыл бұрын
@TITANICLUSITANIA9 жыл бұрын
@Da2hR9 жыл бұрын

and mexican food basically is a large mix of food from elsewhere. some things like chiles and tortillas are native to the region but the spanish brought over pork, chicken, beef, and a ton of other foods. depending on the region mexican food even has roots in italy, africa, germany? lebanon, and so on. in a sense it was birthed like modern american cuisine, just mixes of cultures from people immigrating and mixing cooking styles. there's never a fine line between different cultural foods as humans exchange ideas and recipes and new things are made. will continue into the future as well :)

There are a few tex-mex restaurants in the big cities that are likely to do them but you can buy the ingredients at a store. Ol Del Paso and this other company Discover Mexico sell hard and soft shells. I have tried the hard shell ones but with chicken, It recommends it on the box and everything. And when I brown up the chicken season it etc it is awesome. Add some salsa, cheese and lettuce and it's the bomb. May not be authentic Mexican but this is the UK not Mexico.

There are several types of tacos. Depending on where you're from it can vary. Though I've been living in Mexico for over 4 years now and i grew up eating authentic mexican food. Anyone here would tell you that if you want real tacos its either a soft flour tortilla or corn tortilla. People on here are saying tacos dorados are hard shell tacos but if you compare the type of hard shell tacos most people think of when heard they have almost no similarity to a taco dorado. either way tacos are gewd... :)

Well, that sounded rude!! Edgar has his own opinion and I agree with him soft shell is the Mexican way. But hey if your talking about street tacos (taqueria tacos) typically the soft shell tortilla will be used, so that guy is right. Tacos dorados are fried tortillas but is not super hard like the hard shell here in U.S. Hard shell like Taco Bell uses is Not commonly used in Mexico, that's more of a Tex-Mex thing.
