I remember before the 2018 World Cup, there was the obligatory media attack and pile-on on the England players (That time on Sterling for his gun tattoo) and something different happened…. In the social media age, the fans were able to round on the scummy journalists via Twitter etc and stand shoulder to shoulder with the players. That to me was a pivotal moment where the gutter press was given the fuck off tablet and the players knew that the fans were with them. It’s no coincidence that since then we have had much stronger showings at tournaments. I completely agree with what Taylor, Eriksson, Hoddle and Capello say about the media creating unnecessary pressure back then.

What a lovely man, not being English myself I knew of him obviously but this has opened my eyes to a good person, honest and down to earth. I don’t understand why being the England manager is not me of the biggest international jobs ???? Why ??? England are not a top tier team, England are a good team but for sure no way near top of the class.

Same thing happening to Southgate even though he's been so successful and rescued them when the broken and with the players he has he is performing miracles, imagine he had the golden generation!! Sven is the biggest culprit as we know now how he didn't do anything apart from sxxk off Beckham and I mean literally, people are naive to think otherwise but the players we have now are terrible if Foden and Grealish are classed as elite players 😂😂

It’s proven to be the impossible job since Sir Alf. I doubt it will change anytime soon. The problem is that England expects a major tournament win. When each generation has flattered to deceive since 1966. Maybe that is the problem: don’t expect. QFs has generally been par for the course. It’s not an accident. Until we have a home tournament, a great manager and a really special generation of players then our chances are very low to win a tournament with the historical burden to overcome. Despite 6/7 matches and the final being held at Wembley in 2021 England choked that final produced one shot on target - the goal Shaw scored. Not good enough in a home final. Just because England invented the game and its rules, doesn’t give them the right to win a WC or Euros. They have to win it on the field and that means a plan of how they want to play and a coming together of many factors. So much has changed since 1966. The biggest one that matches can be decided on penalties. It’s a test of nerve. Either England win it in 120 mins or they have to have that grit to win it on penalties. The rest is just a sideshow and blame goes on individuals, mistakes and the manager and the cycle repeats.

Sven is a genius how he has become so successful when he can't even understand questions! He asked do players to much and does affect England and he goes on about what managers think about it 😂 the greatest fraud ever! Made Beckham a great player but everyone at Manchester utd must of been laughing and letting Beckham do whatever he wants on the pitch instead of giving Scholes or Gerrard that role is reason why we won nothing, Beckham should always be on the right crossing and that's it!

They should have given the job to Brian Clough when Bobby Robson left in 1990. It would have been the perfect time for Clough and he would have done a great job with England. It would have reignited his passion for the game and he would have motivated the players and the country. We would have qualified for the World Cup in 1994 as well.

@@mrkipling2201 Brian Clough was unfortunately an alcoholic by 1990. Not the same manager he was in the 70’s and 80’s. Look at the interview with him when Forest were relegated in May ‘93.
