It’s always safe to pick most of the World Cup winning side. Manu had two great seasons and since then has rested on his reputation I think this team is unimaginative we did play rugby before this century

Quite a lot of research went into this one! Hill was on my first draft - hard to get everyone in! Some had to miss out 🥲I took Lawes over Hill - I just think Lawes careers for England has been sublime and slightly underrated! But I would happily take either 💪🏻

Robinson broke the cheat code - he’s was probably an even better rugby league player - to do it to the level he did in both codes was incredible and he was also the first rugby player I believe along with Wendell Sailor from Australia to play in a World Cup Final in both codes … (Jason Robinson 1995 RL World Cup final lost to Australia, 2003 RU WC final beat Australia & Wendell Sailor 2000 RL World Cup beat NZ, 2003 RU World Cup final lost to England)

Yeah was really hard to do this one! Was in two minds on most positions…Hill could be a blunder leaving him out - he was on my first draft 😆 You can’t win em all 🥲 It’s hard to do these lists - I go through so many combinations and then second guess it!

@rugbybuzz yeh to be fair they're impossible, the best players don't always make the best teams, I like lawes in there, Johnson itoje and lawes is winning line out ball for sure. I'd probably go daws, Wilkinson,manu,guscott, may. But it is nearly impossible. Be interesting to do all the home nations and compare them.

there is an arguement to put Farrel in at centre position...I'm not a big fan of his, but cant deny he is a great player...just got a bad attitude that ruins his rep

Richard Hill possibly the best england player ever, has to be in there. Would put him at 7 over Back. Personally while Cohen and Lewsey had great years leading up to 03 their post 03 international careers werent remarkable. I think Anthony Watson should feature after playing well in 2015 and particularly 2019, as well as being a standout Lion in 2017. Jonny May was also one of the best wingers in the world in 2019-20

Having Lawes is fair enough, but Hill has to be there which means Back or Dallaglio subbed. Thomson in for George, Underwood in for Cohen and that's my team Also I presume you are picking the rampaging version of Tuilagi not the crocked one. 😊

I would have put Andrew Sheridan in at tighthead for Leonard , Hill for Lawes and Rory Underwood for Lewsey but this list is very good and well thought out. I think Sheridan is the most destructive scrummager England have ever had and Hill was an out and out 6. He didn’t play in the second row. I want specialist players at their best in my team .

@@apb3440 Naturally most of the best players are going to be from the professional era due to better diet and training . I suppose you could imagine how good Gareth Edwards etc could have been if the they played after 1995 but they didn’t . We can only go on what we have seen .

@@MrAnamchara Bigger and fitter doesn’t necessarily equate to better rugby. It just means more players who can only play an hour before being replaced. The skill levels have reduced massively since professionalism. I’d rather watch a winger like David Duckham than some of the 16 stone plus beasts that have taken over.

There are players already mentioned that deserve possible places in the starting 15, think how good the squad would be with them in reserve. I realise this team is composed of players at their peaks and would put my hand in my wallet to bet on them beating any nation's current team.

Underwood is still England' s leading try score in the days of half the games and a 10 man game. He needs to be in imo as does Richard Hill the only player Woodward never dropped.

I think you have to take a look back to now they have done their bit and then assess their contribution it in context if others. I take your point on Manu but I guess it comes down to criteria that you are defining as great - consistency, time, performance, appearances etc….

Hmmm, picking Greenwood at 12 feels wrong. I don't recall him playing 12 at all. Every one of your clips shows him at outside centre as well. He was a 13, and a brilliant one at that!

12/13 I had to interchange a bit here - I had to fit Tuilagi at 13 so Greenwood slotted in at 12, but true he played most games at 13…I wanted both of these guys as my centres 💪🏻

Greenwood basically was the inside centre with a 13 jersey while Tindall played on the outside. So the dynamic with Manu would be similar

You will not see me on the next one as you don't k ow what you're talking about. Underwood for Coen, Lewsey far better fullback, Robin son far more effe time on the wing (far more dangerous receiver close to the gain line). Have you not heard of Richard Hill (and I mean both of them, 6 & 9), Guscott at 13, Manu at 12. Andrew Sheridan, Peter Winterbottom, Peter Wheeler.
