A brief yet detailed explanation into why there is such a large economic division between the north and south of England.
This video demonstrates a new point of view that has arisen from hours of heavy research into Britain's economic history. Hopefully this is an eye opener to anybody that has never fully understood where the foundations of the division stemmed from.
I can easily write up and plan my videos in no time because it is what I love doing but since I am still an amateur with basic animations, I struggle to do them. I have spent many hours on this video so I hope that you enjoy it!
I look forward to reading all of your comments below and as always I will answer every single one. If you are new to the channel then you should know that I value my subscribers more than anything and reply to each and every message that I receive.
Thank you so much for watching!
If you want to see more videos like this then comment some suggestions down below. It would really motivate me too if you liked and subscribed!

Mistake Alert! Labour won in 1997, not 1994 as said in the video. I wrote the script correctly but voiced the wrong date during recording. Just wanted to make it clear for anybody using this for research purposes.

Of course I couldn't forget about you! For the purpose of simplicity I felt the need to view the midlands as a transition from North to South because otherwise it would have been a few hours longer!
@fafski1199

Because many who live there (especially in the East Midlands), refuse to accept that it even exists. Which is kind of understandable since some often of them live farther north, than others in the west, that are classed as living in the north.

I must say though your right in a lot the real divide is between Northern Big cities (Manchester,Liverpool,Leeds) and all the large and small towns (Bolton,Preston,Blackburn,Hull,Burnley etc.) you are pretty well describing the economic situation of most small to large northern Towns. But the cities have their own self contained economies based off healthcare,tech,and banking and other service industries. The rest of the North not so much.

Hello everybody! I apologise for not having a community tab to post this message but at this is my most actively interacted video today I would like to share a quick message on here. Firstly, I would love to thank you all for the amazing support since I have been inactive! I am planning on returning to youtube and uploading consistently from the end of April or beginning of May. I can promise you all that the animations and audio will be significantly better upon my return! I currently have a long list of video ideas but if you have any suggestions, please reply to this comment with your favourite types of videos that I could upload (stock market, stock analysis, economics, finance... etc) and any ideas for specific videos that I could create in the future. Thank you all for the support and I look forward to hearing from you!

Being from Leeds and in my '70s I can only testify to the historical prosperity of the city...it's industry was not uniform as those of steel ,mining and shipbuilding and fishing..it never suffered the levels of privation of its fellow urban areas and one never saw the poverty among families ,even I think during the pre war period.its principle industry was tailoring which employed thousands of women thus providing a second family income..my father,a bricklayer ,my mother a part time tailoring worker,myself and my 2brothers never went short of anything and nobody in our working class area was evidently deprived

What’re your thoughts on the Yorkshire Party’s campaign for Yorkshire devolution and their milquetoast social democratic program?

Interesting way of framing things. I understand that you wanted to keep this video short and concise but I would have been interested to hear more about the unions, workers rights and the prevalence of 0 hour contracts/temp work today. Some things that could have also been included are councils funding being slashed (especially in predominantly labour voting, northern areas), the right to buy from thatcher, and the subsequent halt of building affordable council houses to rent (in areas where the labour force were primarily working class and reliant on these now closed industries) I think these events/issues have a significant part to play in the north/south divide and the deprival that many parts of the north are facing, as the Tories seek to prioritize their voter base: corporate enterprises and city of London financial institutions over low level workers.
@investorintelligence9889

Informative video. My job involved travelling to see customers all over the UK. I was astounded at the deprivation in places like the Welsh valleys and Stockton on tees.(I am from Lincoln) Then equally astounded to see prospering shops on a council estate in Welwyn and High employment, contrasting to empty shops in Doncaster, Hull and Scunthorpe. Maybe you can do one on the great reset potential with a robot obsessed world and 90% unemployment? While the WEF live a life of luxury on yachts or reside on the Seychelles?

Most of British coal came from South Wales. There was over 400 collieries alone through out the valleys.
@investorintelligence9889

A significant amount did come from South Wales although England hosted around 3000 mines and produced an average of 5 times the amount of coal produced in Wales if we look at the 19th-20th century.

It's actually much simpler. Extremely rich Tories profit more by buying foreign goods using Chinese/Indian labour than paying skilled British workers. As they are wealthy right wing capitalists they dont care about the working class so are not bothered if the northerners hundreds of miles from Landan lose their livelihoods.
