I remember watching this live. A special moment happened when Michael Holding went back to his old long run-up, the crowd erupted in applause! 🙏🏻😀

The most unfair cricket team.in test cricket.in the.world. Is Australia and the cricketing board does nothing about it

Was there at the ground, Mikey at the ripe age of 30 sprinting in off his long run up. Still remember going totally ballistic when Haynes took that catch: partly because of how great a catch it was, and partly because Lamb had been the only England batsman to turn up that summer with 3 centuries.

The west indies were a magnificent side, probably one of the greatest of all time, England didn't stand much chance during that series.

If, I remember, correctly, both, Garner and Marshall were off the field, at the time. Mikey knew he had to produce something. What a something that was 3 for 5 in 17 deliveries. Also, he knew he would not be touring in 1988. So, he came in off his long-run to give a 'goodbye present' to windian fans. Poetry in motion. The rolls-royce of fast bowling. Whispering Death. Whichever one you chose, it meant Mikey.

Thank you for enlightening the 0.1% of cricket fans who were not aware of Holding's nickname.

Tavare got very little credit for his 49 here. Jim Laker called this right when he said it was a brave innings.

Marshall right hand movement seems to be slightly ahead of his upper body movement. Garner has better sync between hand and body.

Looking back now, what was the point of Botham bowling with the new ball ? A flabby, half pissed bloke bowling long hops and half volleys is not a good look.

Good question. I especially like the bit where Botham points at the crowd after bowling Desmond Haynes, as though he’s vindicated. With England already 4-0 down and all but certain to lose the current match

Botham was a great cricketer and his record speaks for itself. Have a look what Botham did in the Lords test match during this series.

@@vantheman1238 The problem with England cricket supporters in general is that they live in the days of the Empire. This West Indies side was one of the best cricketing side the world has ever seen. And some "Little Englanders" can't seem to understand that other countries can play cricket quite well. They have to find some excuse, and Botham was the scapegoat. One of the world's best all round cricketers and if some of the other England players had as much heart, they might have been able to stand up to the bowling better.

Utterly brainless bowling by Botham whose great days as a test match bowler were already behind him in '84. He wasted the new ball which should have been given to Agnew (who was picked to open the bowling and take the new ball).
