It was nice seeing England pass the ball about rather than the favored hoof ball, they looked comfortable on the ball throughout the whole game. Good to see Baines and Sturridge playing well too given their current club form. Must admit I was a bit shocked to see Townsend on the starting sheet but he was excellent. Let's hope the players carry on this performance to the Poland game!

I agree with Villas-Boas. I hope that Townsend gets some consistency in the England team, he did have a good start to the season by Spurs, but by letting him play for England so early was a risk. If Andros keeps getting dropped by Hodgson it wont do him any good! England played well!

As a liverpool fan I will say that Hodgson has done well for England. One thing that has translated from him to the players is the desire to do well, he feels the pressure that comes with the job, Capello or Sven didnt really care enough for England to do well so why would the players have?

A win is a win. The number of goals is irrelevant unless you've scored less than the opponent. Spain rarely score many goals, but then 4 consecutive 1-0 wins are better than 3 5-0 wins and then a 1-0 loss.

The original comment was referring to QUALIFYING groups in which England ARE one of the top seeds. As for the actually world cup itself, England aren't seeded but they CAN still be drawn against the likes of Spain or Germany regardless of them also being from Europe.
