Spain had a couple legitimate goals disallowed in this match .... Always ride their luck do England

Their luck ran out against Spain in this year's Euros.

@@kazamshah4543 It's disgusting to think that up until the match vs Netherlands, they still had the refs and VAR on their side. Kane should've never gotten a penalty.
@kazamshah45435 ай бұрын
@@elmariachi11 Yes I agree. There was a lot of bias towards England throughout the tournament before they got found out by Spain in the final. Once again, they were given a free ride, which is disgraceful. Whatever happened to impartiality? By all means, it should've been the Netherlands in the final.

Southgate was in the starting lineup for this match. I hope he leads England to their first victory!

Sadly, Southgate couldn't come up with the goods against Spain this time around, and now he's gone!!!

This match was a complete rip-off. Spain should have won, clearly. Karma has come and compensated this by giving Spain this cup aganist Southgate as a manager. Vamossss España!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

You would almost think that Cururella's handball vs Germany not being penalised is a form of rectification of the injustices Spain had faced in the past, namely here and WC 02 vs Korea.

Spain certainly didn't deserve this loss, the off side calls were terrible, Spain should have gone onwards to face Germany
@elmariachi115 ай бұрын
This was before VAR and linesmen in general weren't as well trained as they are now, plus the linesmen were under extreme pressure in this match not to get a single call wrong, so from their point of view they had a very difficult job that day. It doesn't take away the fact that these calls were very poor, video replays should've been introduced in football decades ago.

What a daylight robbery this was, I watched this live back in 96. Well England, now in 2024 you became master finalist 🤣🤣🤣. 🇪🇦🏆

Ever since these Euros, almost every host nation has got some very 'favourable' decisions in a match, usually a knockout match they play badly in. I wonder how much of it is genuine incompetence and how much is actually favouring the host country so they advance. Although having said that, I think losing to England on penalties is a bit embarrassing, given it took England 22 years to win another penalty shootout.

England was decent back then, and still would've lost this with about same score they themselves beat Netherlands in the group just a week prior, had there been any sane refereeing in this game. i could maybe agree with first offside call, but not second, plus Spain could've had like three penalties and Shearer probably could be sent off for taking down Alcorta(though i understand that asking for such action against the host side, moreover 'the inventors of football', is a tall ask)

The British always said Euro 96 was so remarkable achievement but in reality they had a shit tournament with only one good match: England vs Switzerland: Couldn't overcome a very mediocre Swiss side England vs Scotland: Could have been totally different if the Scots scored that penalty England vs Holland: Only good match they played the entire tournmanent England vs Spain: Spain had two good goals ruled out, should have been 2-0 and tournament ended England vs Germany: Germany also had a perfectly good goal ruled out, and yet still won on penalties

THE sense of overhype and dumb pride from their media and pundits is sickening....an exaggerated sense of worth always. This is why England is the most hated team in the world.

Like when? And anyway, why did Spain have to bear the brunt for all the ill refereeing done to England?

Like in 1966 when they " beat" Eusebio and his Portuguese teammates 2-1 in the greatest desperate heist of host teams. No wonder, the tears of Eusebio and Portugal have been exacting vengeance against the 3 Lions to date.

Is it just me or this game was worst for Spain than the 2002 vs South Korea?
@stavroshadjiyiannis62835 ай бұрын
They were both worse. Both robberies. Spain would possibly have even more WCs & Euros by now if not for scandalous refereeing.
