@@SuperEdge67 just because the All Blacks dominate the sport doesn't mean that the six nations are as worthless as you're making out... Also, bringing up a player's background in rugby, still, nowadays is so petty. It's like England fans complaining about the number of 'English players' in the Welsh team. When it comes to rugby, England are consistently top 3 in the world. You can't just claim that they should be number 1 because of the population and resources... otherwise China would be unstoppable in every sport. The fact is that England are good at most sports. Have NZ even got a football team? I have huge respect for the NZ rugby team, I just wish I saw more respect from the fans, as that's a big part of the game that we grew up playing.

Johnny May is reputedly the hardest trainer in the squad. It’s paying off. 50 caps and 5 tries short of becoming England’s all time try scorer. He should make it if he stays fit and in form for the next season or two.
@rivingtonpike78995 жыл бұрын
Worth noting that May is already 6th on the list and the 5 guys above him were either in the 1991 or 2003 vintage squads., whilst May’s tenure has been during a relative period of team underperformance. Well done to the guy, hope he gets the extra 5 tries and gets to 2nd place! That’s a monumental achievement since he’s been active entirely in the recent pro era where defences are well. Drilled. (Can’t see him getting another 23 tries needed for first place)

More like a 4 year plan. We dipped after 2 years as Eddie said we would when he 1st took the job after the initial adaptation to new harder more intense training regimes. We lost 5 in a row and it was common knowledge that the players were of the opinion they were over training and too tired come game time. But we regrouped went again had success and now we are hopefully entering a new era as all along Eddie was watching and taking note an as a result Eddie picked a squad of indiviuals he knew had the character and strength of mind to keep getting better. There have been controversials ommisions from the squad in particular Danny Cipriani the best English player in the english premiership. I think perhaps this year might be a bridge to far maybe 2023 we will reap the whirlwind.
@johnlambert79405 жыл бұрын
@@gordonferrar7782 Few would dispute Danny's playing ability, he's a gifted stand-off half, and I love to see him at his best. I'm sure your point about character and strength of mind is significant. It's more than possible that Cippers disrupted the mood of the squads to a degree where Eddie couldn't make it work. He doesn't bring anything over and above George Ford, and he doesn't have that instinctive - almost telepathic - ability to combine with skipper Farrell the two have had for 20 years or so since schoolboy matches together. That can't be coached. People say we've no chance against NZ after the way they beat Ireland. They have short memories ... they seem to have forgotten that this same England handed two similar towellings to the Irish this year. This weekends match could possibly be the hardest one either side will face this campaign. Can we beat the All Blacks? Of course we can. We need to be absolutely on point from 1-23, and punish every mistake they make (it won't be many). However, they do start favourites, and for that reason there will be no shame if our World Cup ends with a defeat to a fine side on Saturday.

@@johnlambert7940 bravo John. I aggree with everything. After 10 minutes Ireland vs NZ i turned to my dad and told him NZ would win by 40. I'm aware they are not the side of old i know the Aussies put 40 on the board and they lost to the Boks but when the chips are down they find an answer and have thag edge in big game management. I doubt Nigel Owens will let Keiron Read away with his usual hysteronics that guy gets away with murder and i think we will give them hell. I just have that feeling i had in 99 a good team together ready to do something great before Janie De Beers stole the script. The slow role towards 03 was memorable going downunder winning in Aus and holding off the Kiwis 2 men down it felt certain we had the edge. everywhere. Elliot Daly not even catching high balls in practice sessions. Sublime player but not a world class fullback. Aussies toasted him on Saturday, he wasn’t even close enough to attempting tackles for the Aussie tries. NZ will look forward to running at him and peppering him with kicks. Slade’s Kick on the the first try was good but I dont have time time. To criticise the rest of his game, it would take a lot of writing. Hopefully Joseph and. Nowell start ahead of Slade and Daly. Eddie: please tell Youngs and Faz not to box kick the leather off the ball. It will lead to loads of no attacking opportunities and a few nz tries.
