Ignore all the noise lads; the negative media narratvies, the crowing of the gleeful ABE brigade, the moral police jumping on perceived slights. You went halfway round the world and won evert game but one, beating the best teams in the world (but one) in the process. You've restored pride to the shirt. The group is tight, talented and young enough, plus its DEEP. Heal the wounds but don't forget: harness the pain, the schadenfreude and the smug goading as rocket fuel for the 6N. This will make you stronger. The journey to 2023 starts from here - you've just arrived at base camp.

Like most fans I have followed England over the past four years and not missed a single match or piece of content during that time. I sat and watched the final and my stomach felt heavy as the depressing realisation set in that what I had dreamt of all this time was so close yet not going to be achieved. Depression set in and the following few days I felt wounded and robbed. I am now at the point where I can finally say I feel humbled by Englands effort this tournament. What do I really have to disappointed with?! England rugby have entertained and inspired me for 4 years, culminating in a landmark win over NZ and a silver medal in a World Cup. I know winning is the single goal of any sport, and while England didn’t win the final match they have done so much more. Inspired countless children, left a legacy to be proud of, created fantastic watchable rugby, and pushed out some fantastic content. Rugby world cups don’t dish out awards for most inspiring team, or team which best represents rugby’s values - but if they did England would take them all! I’m fantastically proud of the team, and when all is said and done I think England will be the team remembered most and to create that sort of legacy is something extremely special!

Oft, that was a tough watch. Obviously it would have been great to see the behind the scenes if they had won, but I feel seeing the aftermath of a loss that huge is just as important. You've done us proud lads and you should feel proud, even if it understandably may take a while for you to get beyond the disappointment of falling short. And honestly, the people moaning about the medals can do one. Anyone with two eyes and a basic level of intelligence could see you congratulating the Boks and giving them credit when it actually mattered. Plus you only have to look at this series to see how well you've conducted yourselves all tournament. A raw, emotional reaction to the medal doesn't change that. (Yes I realise I'm writing it as though they'll read it 😅 )

‘The good players and the good teams find a way to get forward again!!’ Never forget that comment. It’s a mindset that will take you to the top. I’m confident it’s the mindset that took Liverpool to lift the Champions league trophy in 2019 following a bruising defeat in the final in 2018. These qualities are crucial in winners across any sport. A winner will always find a way at some point in their career. I hope the team remembers these words from Eddie.
