The thing that puts me off England winning is the English media. It would be fine, even happy for England to win, but we uniquely share a media, unlike most countries. We have to hear about England before nearly every game in a tournament, even when they aren't playing. "Oh, France vs Germany is coming up, but we are going to talk for twenty minutes about England players playing darts". And to make matters worse we have to hear about 1966 like it was yesterday, the media would be even worse if you won another. You guys are bad winners.

When England were dumped out of Euro '96 and saw Scottish fans celebrating like they'd won the thing, I quickly modified my attitude. The only empathy I have with the first caller is the lack of inclusivity from media come game time. It’s the same thing here in Los Angeles for anyone who is Latino but not Mexican. Every pre-match, during-the-match, & post-match shows only talk about Mexico & never the other Latino national team they are up against. The bias commentary during the games & analysis after the game is irritating. I get there is schadenfreude and wanting others to fail in football it's part of the game, just not for me. I do agree that other home nations shouldn't be made to support England. You can't blame ordinary England fans for the perceived arrogance when it's the media and the constant harping on about 1966. Most of us understand we haven't done it in the modern era. I also don't agree with the counting of chickens by the media

It's bizarre. I'm English and think I share the same views as most English. When it comes to the other home nations, i'm fairly indifferent. I don't wish for any of them to do badly, I just don't have that much interest in their results. The view on their fans is (and well beyond just the home nations) is that they really wish the worst for England and yet classic Welshman "Mohammed" has the audacity to call us arrogant? Yeah, last time we won anything was 1966.. when was the last time Wales/Scotland/Northern Ireland/Republic won anything? One thing I would tell you for sure if it was a home nation in a major final I'd be watching and hoping they'd win.... but not before that, not bothered.

I can't wait until England win everything, if only to shut these bitter, envious haters up once and for all. Most English fans and press are delusional, not arrogant. One trophy in well over a century shows there’s absolutely nothing to be arrogant about. I get that people are upset with this version of the cross but what's the big deal. The cross was very prevelant when the English plundered and colonized societies yet we all have moved up and no one says remove the cross as it represents colonialism for some nations. The price of kit is much more serious matter
