Out of the two I’d say the English breakfast would be my preference. Pancakes, bacon and maple syrup on their own are great, but adding in sausage, HB and an egg is too far.

Hello, new subscriber and I really enjoy your channel! As an American, I can tell you I'm very familiar with a traditional American breakfast. But there are some glaring oddities about this version of an American breakfast; Hash browns: Not sure why but every English breakfast I've seen with hash browns are these strange preformed triangular and probably frozen patties. American hash browns are nothing like that. It's loosely shredded potatoes that are cooked on a griddle. You can also ask for them to be as crispy as you want. It's also very popular to add Tabasco sauce to them. Sausages: It seems like English sausages used for breakfast is the same type of sausage used in bangers and mash. That is not the case here. American breakfast uses a completely different "breakfast sausage" which is nothing like a bratwurst or sausage we would eat for lunch or dinner. Pancakes: This is weirdest thing I've ever seen. I've never ever seen bacon put between the pancakes! It's almost always just a pad of butter between and another on top. I cannot stand pancakes...to me it tastes like a sweet soggy sponge. But if you've had some actually real maple syrup from Canada, that is a game-changer...especially when you dip the breakfast sausage in it. Overall, there are things that are traditional in both countries. You might think hash browns are weird for breakfast, where it's a staple here. We think it's completely bizarre to have beans for breakfast, where that is a staple there. We also almost always have toast with butter and/or jam. And it's not uncommon to have a bowl of fresh fruit. I was surprised how different German and Austrian breakfasts were. But different is good. I would love to try a traditional English breakfast with the things I'm not used to.....black pudding, grilled tomato, mushrooms, English sausages, your style of bacon, and yes beans!!! Sorry for the long post but I really did enjoy this video, thank you!
@GreenoEatsАй бұрын
I love long, detailed comments, they're always interesting to read. And welcome t the channel !! I think this was a very average British interpretation of what an American breakfast is. The hash brown was never a thing here until McD started selling them with their breakfast muffins, and they are frozen triangles of potato, deep fried. Those pancakes are premade ones, that basically you reheat in a toaster, nothing like the fluffy buttermilk pancakes over the pond. Glad to hear you would go for the beans and the black pudding on a Full English (although you can keep the mushrooms, bleugh!) If you'd like a reminder of a European breakfast, I had a great one in Vienna recently, which I filmed.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGKynqSfnJqBbqc

@GreenoEats 🍽😉☺️ Kiwis are a special kind of crazy. But yes, in the back blocks of farming, Dad used to put tinned spaghetti. Sorry Mrs Greeno for the imagery.🥰😊 if that doesn't appeal, hed make fried bread (unsweetened donut basically) which you dipped in double cream.. with a bit of jam, if you weren't hungry.

I prefer a omelet with cheese, spinach, mushrooms, onions and all soft and fluffy. Sourdough toast or buttermilk biscuit and applewood smoked CRUNCHY bacon.

@@GreenoEats sausages most definitely, but the hash browns come in 2 types, the formed patties witch the restaurant sell but you can buy in stores but they come loose, basically grated potato with most of the water removed then you throw them in a frying pan and just cook them until golden then flip and cook the other side, I've worked in a few restaurants and the formed hash browns are deep fried in a special basket that is separated into thin deep channels and deep fried, they use the same basket for nuggets, McDonald's also use them for fish and there fried chicken The hash browns in there patty form are a full rectangle or curved at the ends
