Coraline is the true sad story of a girl who suffered violence from her father, who unfortunately died. at the end of the song a castle with powerful walls is named which is actually the Verano cemetery in Rome. Coraline's lyrics are pure poetry like many of the lyrics of other Italian Maneskin songs and more. thank you very much 😁👍 greetings from Italy 👍 Alessandro

since hearing this song, it has become my favorite maneskin song even before knowing the lyrics in english. some songs are meant for the ears, some are meant for the soul. his voice and their instruments speak to a deep part of me and i just think that at one point or more in our lives, we are all coraline. to you who's reading, i hope you find the strength to take the hand of the "knight" and find freedom from whatever it is caging you.

I think the song is like a mixture between a modern day stairway to heaven by led zepplin and better man by pearl Jam. The only reason it isn’t as appreciated as much as their cover of beggin is because it’s in Italian and not english. It’s sad to think how many truly incredible songs are recieving so little attention purely because they aren’t in the dominant language of western media.

think for a moment about an Italian listening having clear lyrics the very first time... yes it is a killer song, a masterpiece of construction when only at the end, after you alredy think the song came to the end , only then he reveals some of coraline's truth. Damiano has put in the song the pain of the girl and the boy's will to help her, the monster and a possible escape, because those strong walls cannot really protect her anymore... too late. (see other comments to find out what he meant ;-) ).

Honestly: I heared this and instantly looked up how to play it on guitar. At first I was like: Damn, this guitar is so beautiful. Then I looked up the translation to the lyrics, because I unfortunatly do not know how to speak Italian and that was when I realized not only how beautiful this song is musiclly, but how meaningful the lyrics are and since then it has become my favorite Maneskin song by far! (also: The line "Coraline wants the sea but is afraid of water" is pure poetry) I got into Maneskin properly earlier this year, because a girl from my new class is a huge fan (and because I instantly liked her I decided to give 'em another listen). I knew Zetti e Buoni before because of Eurovision. I love the phrase "Coraline wants the sea, but is scared of water". I was a a very similar situation up until not too long ago. I failed a practical exam for my job training earlier this year and therefore failed to graduate. Once school started again I just tried to run away from the exam coming up around febuary-ish next year. Some teachers of mine warned me about it, I just couldn't face my fear I was paralyzed by it. Fortunatly some friends of mine from class agreed to form a little group with me to talk about each others aprenticeship, our project ideas and stuff and ever since then I finally overcame my fear. It helps knowing there are people who I can turn to for tips and a kick in the butt when I need it but I think even more important to me: It calms me down greatly, knowing I got people to count on and that I won't be by myself. It may sound cheesy but, my life truely is better with them and I am very grateful for the chemistry we share and the friendships we formed this year. We ended the last day before holidays by just going out and eating at the local Subway after school and that day made me realize, how fortunate I truely am to having ended up where I did. Life just finds a way to make you love being alive

what you said about the guitar solo is so true. i'm not a huge fan of solo instrumental parts in music generally but how it's done here is so good. the amount of emotion that you can feel through damiano's vocals and the lyrics - which is a LOT - almost the same emotion is conveyed through that guitar riff. i say this as a person who, whenever i cry, the phrase "coraline piange" pops into my head. 😭

Mistranslating a single word changes the whole meaning of the song. In italian he doesn't say "she never knew love, she has a father who is nothing like a father", but he says " she never knew love but (she knew) a father who is nothing like a father" (litterally " she has never known love but a father who of a father has nothing"). It's the story of a parental abuse ending, after the loss of the son she was having from his father, with a suicide. Also translating "mura talmente potenti" (litterally : such powerful walls) with "such strong walls" imo weakens the strenght of the phrase.

Now it is a really good reaction. 🥰As in all songs with a strong impact, everyone interprets Coraline as they want and as their experience suggests. Of course, in the song there is no happy ending, in real life (it is inspired by the true story of a person Damiano met) we hope so.

for me: 1) her boyfriend (the narrator/singer; in the second part of the song lyrics are in 1st person and describes what a fiance is) left her, she's pregnat and have abortion/miscarigge. 2) the "father" at the end is the father of the baby, not coraline's father. 3) the "castle with such strong walls" is a mental institution/psychiatric clinic or a cemetery

That almost is nothing else then bashing, what some comments about Måneskin say... You have to remember that they play the song with only three (!) traditional rock instruments: bass, drums, guitar. Plus the - quite unique - voice of the singer. It is that easy to fill a song with "life" that was not composed as a rock song at all. Without keyboards/synthesizer, strings, etc. However, Måneskin managed to create a full, voluminous sound despite this limitation. Follow also a music producer listening to this song to understand what I mean: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5C7aapte76rbsk One comment mentions that Måneskin even took over the rap part instead of writing their own verse. Sorry guys, but what the hell...? It is a cover of the Madcon cover. They did not cover the Four Season's version. It is a cover of the Madcon cover. They did not cover the Four Season's version; so logically, the rap part is also taken on. If you know other songs by Maneskin, then you know that they can write intelligent and also profound lyrics. Even the ESC 2021 winner song "zizzi e buoni" has a self-composed rap part, so what? For example, check out Bayo's review of listening in on "Coraline": kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6fOiGloj8h_ars Sorry, but anyone who claims they can't write good lyrics because they covered a rap part 1:1 has no idea. They had even dared to perform their own song ("Chosen") at the first x-factor game instead of replaying a well-known hit. And at that time they were between 16 and 18 years old. Btw: I love Madcon's version a lot, too.
