I've watched a ton of chess content but the way you explain the key ideas and the overall flow and structure of your videos is really outstanding. Well done.

omg bruh thank you so much! I've been trying to find myself a repertoire against 1.d4 that not a lot of people know about, so I thought the English Defense would be really great. But I haven't found a good video explaining it and its ideas until now! I learned a lot from this, tysm again

Great video. I’ve always liked this opening; the transpositions from the owen’s defence 1.e4 b6, and the fact that it has the English 1.c4 in mind, make it fairly universal.

Yes, I saw the video after seeing the games the example one, and I feel equipped to go ahead an try out the opening. I like your instructing method. It is clear enough that anyone can understand, but not so complex that we get baffled. Kudos.

The Hikaru Game actually is an Owen's Defence which arises after e4 b6, so technically not an English Defence. Sometimes these 2 openings overlap.

Wow. I've been playing this opening for months and didn't realize it had a name. I need to clean up my lines a little bit, but this fits neatly into what I was already doing. You have a new subscriber for life!

I like castling queenside and doing the centre pawns the other way around. Leaves white open to a sneaky queen take (icbm style) and a weak position while you have awps aimed at everything. Edit: Make sure to do Qe7 before castling, though. It defends the centre pawn.

How to counter the English defense, the Welsh opening
@pokerchannel69912 жыл бұрын
Kind sir: I like it. I have done this now. When I play with the black pieces, and if I see d4, I have started to use english. why? . . . well, on the flip side, I hate facing b3 when I play d4 as white. So, I figure I can learn how to play the english so I can face it when I am white. Not surprisingly, I like it as black when I use the english defense. lol. You know what I mean? Cool vid! dude!
