Thank you very much for teaching us all those interesting and useful idioms. Your way of teaching with detailed explanations and examples makes understanding and memorising individual idioms and words much easier. It is interesting to learn that hair could have its plural form as in ‘split hairs’.

John Doe is a determined and successful man. He would not sit on the fence to weigh the pros and cons for anything up in the air; he sticks to his guns on what he decided to do and no one could possibly change his mind; he regards weighing the pros and cons as splitting hairs----a waste of time; he does things one step at a time. He has a good point: no achievement is there up for grab, only decision and action. We should all learn from him.
