I think this song is about the girl (whom you see in the video) who's lover died by drowning, and she's pretending he's still alive as she loved him, shielding herself with wishes and memories (representing the flower covering her eye and her other eye closed) but as her wishes and memories "blow away" she hopes her lover will hold on the them tight so she can forever hide in the safety of her dreams. Eventually she opens her eye, as to show that she's waking up, but she closes her eye again as to shut out the world. In the end, she lets go, and accepts that her love is gone, and wakes up (shown by "dying" or drowning herself the same way as her lover so she could kill the her that was dreaming away in a fantasy)

Thinking out of nowhere here but I have a little feeling that Hirari is a prequel to Six Trillion years and one night. Here's why. 1: People talk about the beginning notes that are similar to Six Trillion. Not a big thing but that's something. 2: The girl (miku append) has a bit of a similar appearance with the girl from six trillion (IA) Not very many reasons so but this could be what happened to the girl from Six trillion in Hirari. She lost a lover and she lost her tongue by singing all those high notes XD

I just re-watched six trillion years and I think I have a theory how they can be connected actually, in six trillion years they were both (I think) slaves trying to escape, what if they found a way to escape on a ship to another place (not necessarily a different country) and once they got to that place they would take another trip to a different country, but the boy missed the boat. Idk it's my theory.

Alyssa henwood In my opinion, I think that the song talks about someone who she loved ever so much but that person is now gone. That person either was in a tragic accident or just left the relationship so carelessly. They seemed to have so many memories which I think sort of represents the flower petals and that they're blowing in the wind. The petals are going from on hand to the other but notice that she's actually gripping the petals in her right hand. It may exemplify that she didnt want to let go of those memories but even if she did, she would always remember which could also mean why her left hand is open. She has a complete flower covering her right eye which I think shows how she'll always be sort of blinded of their whole relationship. The love was so great that It'll always be a part of her and never leave. Her shirt and hair are both blue which could mean how much in despair she could be in, all the tears she ever cried, or the water that she "drowns" into later into the song. The water could be her depression and kinda shows how she was sinking deeper into the abyss (Like in Deep Sea Girl). Her tie is covering her heart which kinda reminds me of Irony also sung my miku cause she says her heart is now fragile. She would always repeat "fluttering" which could me that she may also be dead because she says that the sun sinks to set on ALL their skies. But their love will never disappear. It will always remain "fluttering" in the wind :) My short theory :P my full one is too long lol

So my take on this is that her lover had left her, and since she was so distraught she drowned herself. "Drifting soft, like the whispers as you see nobody" It leads me to think that she's so full of heartbreak that she's come to the point of suicide. She's talking about the whispers of others as the news goes around that she's gone, and he's not going to see her ever again. The song at least somewhat implies that he's still alive, and I'm going to guess that because of the line "a love undone by my lies" the breakup was her fault, or she thinks it's that way, and she kills herself because of the guilt of ruining it. The "weight of words that poured down on me" line makes me feel like it's either the words of him ending the relationship or her own words, saying it was her fault. She couldn't bear the pain they inflicted on her, so in order to end it, she commits suicide. Really sad song. But beautiful, in its own way.
