Loving Rogers' Mortimeresque driving runs! If we need a clinical finisher, why don't we recall Louie? He's scoring goals for fun. And he's one of our own 👍

Great show as usual Pete. I actually felt we played better against Arsenal compared to last year but these are all close matches. Perhaps the best barometer now is that we're disappointed with the result. Just a few years ago, we'd be relieved.

I never saw Bailey play such a defensive game and he did it quite well but it took away from his attacking role. I truly thought he was really playing right midfield and not right wing. Our team suffered because of it as there was a shortage of outlet by the defense and midfield, even he himself to relieve the pressure of the opponent's press which I think resulted in the second goal.

Hello Pete and Villans, I have nothing but admiration for our team, a more clinical Watkins and a less fumbling Emi (both unusual btw) and we win that game or at least tie it at 2-2. The performance was amazing, Nedelkovic was mature and Rodger’s literally walked through Arsenal at will. We will be fine for sure 👌🏻 UTV

I'm happy for Nedeljkovic to start, I thought he was brilliant. 18? Someone check his birth certificate. I think Maatsen will be first choice LB from now on. His cameos have been impressive and I think his attacking play will compliment McGinn giving us width on the left that McGinn doesn't and helping out Bailey in the process. Bailey needs cover, his minutes need to be managed. I don't think Philogene is quite up to it. A top quality RW/F signing to replace Diaby is top priority. I said Tielemans is our ready made Luiz replacement and I think he's a better player, but he needs to stay fit. He's vital. Morgan Rogers is on his way to being a £100m superstar of the game. What an astute signing he was.

Great analysis as ever Pete. The Watkins second miss has caused a bit of a split amongst fellow Villa fans. I'm of the opinion that he should have scored that but he put it in the perfect place for the keeper to become a hero. One of the golden rules for strikers is to always try to head the ball down and if Ollie had just done that it would have gone in. But I'm a big fan of Ollie Watkins and you have to admire just how often he gets chances by pure hard work and instinctive prowess. He'll come good and have us purring over him pretty soon. Oh and Morgan Rogers...just WOW. An absolute baller and a star in the making. I saw play him ss a youngster as he was at WBA at the same time as my mates son and it was uncanny just how much he looked like he played back then aged 14/15. The other kids could not get near him and just bounced off him. The Arsenal players looked like those kids did back then.

That performance has left me feeling very positive too Pete. I was very happy with what I saw against a team that will without doubt challenge for the title again. When Watkins gets his sharpness back he will score over 20 goals again this season I have no doubt. One bad game doesn’t change the fact he is an elite level number 9 and anyone writing him off doesn’t know anything about football and isn’t worth listening to

The most real comment I’ve seen. It’s a wonder to me that certain Villa fans call themselves “supporters” when they abuse Watkins, the same dude who contributed above all other players to get us to champions league this season. They seem to have forgotten he hardly had any England game time, a knee injury and no pre season. It’s his 2nd game this season, once he starts scoring and is back in form he will be a power house for us once again! I just wish people would get behind our players, it’s so fickle! UTV

Here's some fun facts regarding our cherished nickname. Where did the name "villain" come from? The word "villain" has its origins in the Latin term villanus, which originally referred to someone who worked on a villa-a country estate or farm. In medieval Europe, a villanus was a peasant or farmhand, someone tied to the land and usually of lower social status. Over time, the term began to take on negative connotations. As cities and the nobility developed a sense of superiority over rural life, the term "villain" started to be associated with qualities seen as crude, unrefined, or morally questionable, reflecting the perceived inferiority of rural workers. Eventually, by the late Middle Ages, the word "villain" came to refer not just to a lowly person, but to someone who was morally corrupt or wicked. This meaning solidified in the English language and evolved into the modern sense of the word, where a "villain" is a character who embodies evil or wrongdoing, especially in literature and drama. So why did Aston villa fans like to adopt the term "villain" ? Aston Villa fans adopted the term "Villans" as a nickname, and it's a play on the word "villain." The connection arises from the club's name, "Villa," which naturally lends itself to the word "Villan," a homophone of "villain." However, rather than associating it with something negative, fans embraced it as a symbol of pride and identity. By adopting the term, Aston Villa supporters turned the potentially negative connotation of "villain" into something positive and empowering. They used it to represent their loyalty, tenacity, and the fierce competitive spirit of their team. It's an example of how language and terms can be reclaimed and redefined by a community to reflect their values and identity. So, while the word "villain" historically carried negative connotations, Aston Villa fans transformed it into a badge of honor, making "Villans" a celebrated and cherished nickname within their community. Up the Villains!

Thought we played well, could have gone either way. Apart from missed chances, big problem was the subs. McGinn going off let Odegaard into the game and he hurt us. He’d been quiet up until that point. Think we needed a like-for-like there. Changed the game.

Correction. The digital ticket system is not new we have had it for over a year as an option and it was the only way in to the European games. The delays getting into the ground were not related to the ticket system. As someone stood at the very from I can confirm that the security stewards arrived 35minutes late. By which time there were huge lines but clearly given the doors hadn’t been opened it’s not correct tickets was the issue.

Said it before, ill say it again! Watkins is a lovely lad, but lacks ruthless striker killer instinct!! Hes a 1 in 3 chance taker, and needs to a 1 in 2! TWO shocking misses when he had time to control ball or head into wide open goal! Honestly as an amateur striker Id have buried BOTH easy chances! Ollie is not a main striker for me! He's the striker supplier who assists a Main striker! He cant manage burden of Prem & Champs alone up front! I understand Unais fluid interchangeable team style up front, but id be happer with Watkins out left up front to run at left backs and a better clinical striker between posts in box! We need another Gary Shaw or Peter White! And Ollie isnt that clinical! Ollie should have won this game for us! 😮
