Even that when he fights Bhishma. He uses bow instead of axe. but yes his skill with axe was unparalleled. He chopped Thousand arms of Karthiveerya Arjuna Shahastra Arjuna who was incarnation of Sudarshan by the way. But bow is said to be highest form of skill. You dont believe me. Just FYI, there is an excellent book about archery called Dhanurveda, which gives instructions on different bow types (for example, masculine bows for closer range and feminine bows for longer ranges), arrow types (including those one could use to intercept enemy arrows), different stances, doctrines, materials for bow and arrow construction, training, etc.
