Fun video! Interesting, as a Canadian (kinda used to both american english vs. british english) I can see the combination of both, which makes it very difficult to understand as I see some british english wording used in american style phrasing and vice versa.

Do people even say "Call on us" these days? Literally never heard of anyone saying that.
I come from a bilingual country since we were a British colony and I find it funny that our national English exams for Middle School and High school are much simpler than the Korean and Chinese ones yet are also far more practical. They focus more on core grammar which actually is what would make it hard for native English speakers too.
LMAO! You mentioned Laoma in your answer for the writing part. That‘s the last thing you wanna do. If you are literally taking the exam, it's prohibited to mention any real name (e.g. your own name) otherwise the answer sheet could possibly be traced back to certain participant, as a rule against cheating.
I have some concerns and suggestions regarding the proposal of pairing up students randomly for the oral training class organized by the foreign teacher. Randomly selecting two individuals to form a practice group might not be the most effective approach for several reasons. Firstly, students may have different proficiency levels and learning goals. Pairing up individuals randomly could result in a significant mismatch in terms of their abilities, which could hinder their progress and make the practice less beneficial for both participants. Secondly, considering personality compatibility is important for effective collaboration. Random pairings may lead to personality clashes or communication difficulties, which can negatively impact the learning experience and reduce the effectiveness of the training. Instead, I suggest considering a more thoughtful approach to group formation. Matching students based on their proficiency levels, learning goals, or even their interests and hobbies could foster a more conducive learning environment. This would allow participants to benefit from productive interactions and meaningful practice, leading to better overall outcomes in the oral training class. Taking these factors into consideration when forming practice groups would help maximize the learning potential and ensure that students can make the most out of the oral training program.

Very nicely done! The only suggestion I have is perhaps to select a different word than ‘thoughtful’ in that context as it could be interpreted as criticism and personal attack. Consider using a more neutral word such as ‘strategic’. Just my two cents. Again very good job!

The reason why Chris mentioned AmE vs. BrE (or ChE) in the listening section is because English education in China is actually based on BrE (while based on American English in S. Korea (my nationality) or Japan). Also, I wonder some questions were not made by the natives...?

The reason that Shandong do their Listening Test separately 😂
Interesting video! But I don't think Laoma could make students get a high score. So I really suggest Laoma don't involve Chinese college entrance examination and if Laomao does it, he would fail. Because this entrance examination is examination-oriented education system, its primary purpose neither teaches students how to speak English more naturely,fluently, confidently and, nor teaches students to know about English world culture. For this Laoma would feel very weird when he illustrate the paper to audience. The entrance English teacher exactly teach their students pay a lot of attention to sentence grammer and structure as well as reading without thinking words or phrases so many times until students conceive these words is 'of course'. Although Laoma would perceive this method is crazy and stupid, but this method will make you get a high score in the exam in a short time. And exprienced teachers very know what would appear in that exam, so students just need to listen and recite. It looks like cheat and nonsense, but it is real of the examination, a lot of student require these English knowledge just in the exam time and after that they could let these knowlege go. But this method dosen't really have no a little good thing, by this way good student will completely master English sentence grammar and this will like a seed when they really want to master English the seed will sprout one day, and great student will really generate interest about not just language-self even though their numbers are few, these great students would learn and study culture and religion and politics and lifestyle, in short they will want to know and exprience everything that English relate to. Laomo, you don't need ask me why I know this, I just know it, it is real.

At 13.10 mark, the sentence that says “have us practice speaking”, I think it should be ‘practise’ not ‘practice’ right?
@mfsre630 Жыл бұрын
The noun is always spelled “practice.” The spelling of the verb varies based on whether you're writing in UK or US English: In UK English, “practice” (with a “c”) is the noun and “practise” (with an “s”) is the verb. In US English, “practice” (with a “c”) is used as both noun and verb.

In terms of the terminology "came out of hospital", dropping the article before hospital is a British English thing. In American English, you always use "the" with hospital, but not so in British English.

英式英语有the 和没有the 有不同的含义。有the 是指场所,没有the 是指活动,比如go to school是上学,学习各种科目,go to the school 是去某个学校。go to sea 是渔夫出海捕鱼或水手出海航行,go to the seaside是一般人去海边。go to hospital 是病人就医治疗,go to the hospital 是任何人去某个医院探病、工作等。
