Ahhh but that's what makes English fun. I love chasing a good quality card, I also love chasing a really off center card. People who like English, typically like a little chaos in their lives.

While I agree with several of your points (from a quality perspective japanese cards are way better that english) I do disagree with your assessment that english boxes do not provide any value. In contrast to japanese there is value in the bulk. This does offset the cost of the booster box cost to a degree. However there is no value or better said, no way to currently extract value, from japanese commons, uncommons, rares, holo rares or even v cards ( v cards or other ultra rares you will need to grade them to extract value). You are also implying that if your alt art or chase card is not perfect then it has no value. That is not accurate as does cards do sell for good amount of money in tcg player as “near mint”. One last point, the prices of japanese booster boxes are getting out of control to the point that it does not make sense to spent $100 or plus for the chance of pulling just one secret rare that might be professor clavel full art or something like that.

I respect your opinion but lemme correct some statements you made. English bulk is about $5-$7 per 500. Usually store credit at locations, cash it’s about $4. On average per 1 booster box you get around 400 bulk cards, so honestly the bulk holds less value than a decent full art card. Second, most English fluff cards can be graded and flipped, but after all fee’s, shipping, etc. the profit is minimal and the time investment becomes tedious. That’s also IF the fluff hits are even gradable based on condition. Also yes, I am implying that if your alt art isn’t in Prestine condition or at the very least, a PSA 10, it’s considerably less valuable, not that it “has no value”. And that’s IF, from my personal history with English, you open 200-500 packs for most chase pulls. Do the math on that cost/risk to reward ratio, then throw in the “maybe it’s good condition” gamble. It’s not as consistent nor worth it in comparison to Japanese. Lastly, comparatively from Enlgish to Japanese. The booster boxes are still on average, cheaper than English even with the state of the current market. Like I said, English has some decent pro’s, but it doesn’t weigh out the con’s in comparison to Japanese boxes from my own personal experience when it comes to making value back on a box opened, or the quality of cards pulled.
