I was at Wrays shop during July 2020. I got a chance to use this very English Wheel that Wray designed. I am only a novice at all of this. But I can tell you that this is one great English Wheel. It is so smooth to use. It is almost like it has power assist moving the metal back and forth. And the top wheel is nice and wide. I have used wheels with skinny top wheels and I can tell you they are no fun. Any of you that maybe wondering if this is any good and not sure if they should take a chance on this wheel, rest assured. You will be very happy with this wheel. Pete

That adjuster is looking REALLY nice...way nicer than I expected. After using a Pro grade Wheel for an extended amount of time, I NEVER used the quick release. Good choice on not adding that feature. I also really like the wide upper wheel that you have to offer, covering a wider area on a large panel really helps conformity in your passes. I'm glad that you are thinking of offering a yoke for a narrow wheel too for smaller panels (and fenders)! I really like the viewers idea of putting it on a hinge to fold into a wall. You've focused the attention on the most important part....the adjuster. As you know more than anyone, having a smooth stable adjuster is key to making great panels! These videos are very appreciated, and I watch them as soon as you post em'!!!

Wray, you must know when I need a pick-me-up! I just walked in the door, sat down and fired up KZbin, and Bam! There it is! While I would love to have had the pricing, just seeing what these are going to be like is good enough for now. Look like a first class piece of kit. Seeing this and the 'Stude you posted the other day, really has me stoked to do the fenders for the '33 Vicky I'm working on for my Wife. This is really great stuff!

As soon as you have a complete deluxe kit for sale, I am a buyer !! I will be able to build my wheel afterwards! I'm going to have the best English wheel in all of Quebec City !!

Nice looking wheel! Well thought out...many nice features! I'd buy your plans but I just built a wheel of my own.. I call it "Overkill" ... it has many but not all of the features your wheel has plus a few other tricks up it's sleeve. I don't have a clue if I did it right or not but I can roll a nice crown in 16 gauge. Love your videos... would like to attend a class or two... but time and distance doesn't permit at this time. Keep up the good work. I appreciate you passing your knowledge on to other people. Best wishes to you from Texas...

Hello Wray, are you using all thread or Acme thread for the top wheel adjuster? Thanks. I will be waiting for quotes on all the components. Bernard
@proshaper2 жыл бұрын
Acme thread is too fast I have used 1" fine thread for 35 years now on hundreds of English Wheels. All of the hardware components are available on my website www.proshaper.com

Wray, not a criticism, just an observation. The reason for the quick lift mechanism on the lower anvil is not for getting material in and out, it's for quick change of the anvil wheels so you can change radius without having to unwind the pressure.

I found the quick release levers were more difficult to use than turning the top adjuster when you had a panel in the machine.

What is your opinion on using a "Rubber Band" on the upper wheel? Thanks.
@proshaper3 жыл бұрын
No need for it. I have tried it 30 years ago, prefer to make simple bends over a pipe with a blanket on it. I will make a video of this.
