Sporting=wearing ? coming off=dropping?
@MrMiss-cp9bw5 жыл бұрын
Sporting, in that use, does mean 'wearing the hat'. Coming off is taking it off - Dropping is usually something that happens by mistake. While you can purposely drop things (bombs, or more 'peaceful' things like a mic drop) it usually refers to an accident like in sports when someone 'drops the ball'. Which again can mean something else entirely: "Justin totally dropped the ball with that chick! What a wiener!"

@@MrMiss-cp9bw Thx brother ,damn I hate this kind of complicated language .Actually I looked up the phrasal verb "come off" but it doesn't mean take off
@MrMiss-cp9bw5 жыл бұрын
@@w.w7974 Honestly I didn't want to go down this route, but here we go 😁 I'll try and keep it brief though haha.. Many western languages are 'a bit complicated' - While the sentence is probably incorrect (wrong wording, as you found out while looking up its meaning) its still it's still an 'appropriate' way of saying "I'm not taking the hat off" since 'The hat comes off the head' (which is then further implied by him pointing at his head/cap/hat). It can also be hard to understand a different language when many words can substitute another - And that's without considering local phrases and 'idioms'. I recently learned, from a god damn TV commercial (lol), that 'Shark Biscuit' is "Australian slang" for 'Kids playing on the beach' 😂 I learned English back when I was 5, but I'm still learning nearly every day. Honestly, one of the things that have helped me the most is watching movies/tv shows with English subtitles - That way you get to both hear and read whats being said. I also learn a lot when I have to translate into a different language - i.e when having to write something in Spanish I'm confident that English to Spanish is better than Danish to Spanish. What's great about google translate is it'll often suggest a new way of wording my sentence which I can then instantly see: "Ooooooh That makes so much sense, and sounds much more correct!". - Apparently I suck at phrasing my sentences properly 😁 Buuut that's more for writing a school report or something along those lines, where grammar and phrasing really matters for a good grade etc. TL:DR If you download movies/tv shows, go/try and find some english subtitles. Also works on DVDs.. So I heard :p
