When I started I had an Estonian teacher who taught me English with discipline. She made me learn 30 new words every single day for 3 months. I would collect them through out the 8 hours I was with her and then learn them at home for the next day. If I didn’t remember some she would make me write each word 100 times with the translation next to it. It was relentless but she was the best teacher I ever had.
@MariosPOS3 жыл бұрын
That sounds incredibly stressful and tiring. I wouldn't want that sort of teacher, firstly because she very clearly forced you to prioritize learning estonian over essentially every other thing, but also because that type of method sounds like it would be very ineffective to anyone with even mild learning struggles. Skip.
@kippen643 жыл бұрын
That's a great plan. 30 words per day would be too much but I could do this plan by doing perhaps 10 words per day. Thanks so much for telling us about it.
@Camille_Fox3 жыл бұрын
@@MariosPOS it was stressful and it was tiring, but that’s what hard work is right? I had to I had no choice. I was 12 when my parents migrated to England and I spoke very little English. This teacher wasn’t forgiving but thanks to her I passed school and got my qualifications and a chance to start a career unlike my kin who didnt get to learn with her, and now they move boxes in a warehouse, knowing less English compared to our time at school even. So yeah, do the work because it pays off later big time.
@irisblue70313 жыл бұрын
@@Camille_Fox I'm glad it worked for you but I don't think this method would work for everyone, especially for people with learning disabilities. It definitely didn't for me and I had to find my own way. Now I'm fluent and was able to move abroad without having to overwork
@Camille_Fox3 жыл бұрын
@@irisblue7031 I agree it’s not for everyone. If you have learning disabilities then you would naturally take a slower approach. It really doesn’t matter how you get there as long as you get consistent results.

Some help to improve, your English is very good and I want to help!! We don’t really use Madam, I have never heard it in any conversation. Normally ma’am is used very formally If 6th class is a low level (I do not know if it is or not as I do not know your country) “but” is a word used to object/disregard what was said previously. e.g “I hate working on the computer, but I get my work done.” We don’t put spaces before commas, only after. Same goes for full stops.

I love this! It's so important for us as language learners to take responsibility for our own learning. The idea of setting and achieving short and long-term goals is wonderful- it helps us to keep our "why" in mind and thus, maintains motivation. I'd love to see a version for Spanish learners (and other languages too) in the not too distant future!! 😍
