Rebecca, I've got a question about sentence #1. What if I DON'T mention the objective pronoun right after the verb? For example, I called later that night TO MY FRIEND. So now, in this case, I do need to use the preposition TO because the objective pronoun doesn't come right after the verb, isn't that right?! EDIT: I don't get why ABOUT can't be used with the verb to discuss. I got the idea, you mentioned a noun, the project. But what if, after the verb I mention a specific subject? For example, "We discussed ABOUT the party" sounds better than _We discussed the party._ Am I seeing things wrongly?

I 'm from Ethiopia. I taught English for six years. I like Rebecca's lesson very much. Interesting! As she said some verbs do not normally take a preposition after them because they have the meaning of the preposition within themselves. However, there are exceptions, for instance, the word discussion (n.) takes a preposition (about).

Ma'am, when you say Spanish students ,are they from Spain? That is precisely what that term means. If you want to refer to someone whose native language is Spanish, the correct word is Hispanic, not Spanish You can also say Spanish-speaking students.
