Do you think that "stare" was lost?

Even journalists get these wrong, especially prepositional phrases (that begin with the word “of” for example.) i was watching a video in which the speaker (a nationally known journalist) said something to the effect, “This group of doctors are highly qualified.” I began keeping score, and even journalists more often get these WRONG. I was watching a series called People Magazine Investigates. Every one of their senior writers - and senior editors - got these wrong. It annoyed me to the point of distraction. If the pros - literal wordsmiths - can’t handle simple grammatical rules, how can the rest of us? To me it is just sloppy that professionals don’t even bother. And this is just ONE example.
