Hi teacher Rebecca, I wanted to ask is conversational English different from written English. Because in conversations I’ve found it very common for people to say “me and my sister love pizza” or “me and my sister went to the Cinema” etc. I hardly hear people saying in conversation “my sister and I went to the Cinema” for example. Just curious and thought I’d ask the question. I love your classes and thank you.

Especially on social media, I often see people use Me as a subject ( e.g. Me, saying ****, Me visiting ****, Me eating ****, “Them: Are you a dog person or a cat person? , Me: All I can tell you is that I’m not a people person. “ like these) Actually I was expecting to learn what the rules of this kind of structure. Can you please explain also about it in your next video?

Subject = the doer, object = the victim, verb = the deed of the subject. Objective pronouns appear after all prepositions and and all verbs, except for "be". Actually, there is no reason for using objective form after "be" since it is not a deed. So, formally, we say "It is I". However, most native speakers of English say it "It is me".

14:53 The number of native speakers, even the educated ones, almost invariably get this wrong. You and I equates to we. You and me equates to us So "Would you like to go out with us", NOT "Would you like to go out with we".

In English, it is more natural to say, "Rebecca taught me a lesson." While "Rebecca taught a lesson to me" is grammatically correct, it sounds more formal and less common in everyday speech. Please give me a clarification here?
