etap.com - In this presentation, we explore ETAP's collaboration with Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFC) of Pakistan to upgrade their Electrical Load Management System (ELMS) at the Ammonia/Urea Plants' Complex in Sadiqabad. The existing ELMS, commissioned in 1992 using Allen Bradley PLC 5, needed replacement with a modern, intelligent system to enhance operational efficiency and avoid production losses.
FFC chose ETAP's iLS™ (Intelligent Load Shedding System) due to its digital-twin platform and model-driven solution, which aligned perfectly with their requirements. With a detailed Electrical System Model already available from previous ETAP studies, the transition to the iLS solution was seamless.
The project unfolded in two phases: Phase-I focused on integrating Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) and replacing PLC 5 with Schneider Electric M580 PLC, while Phase-II aimed to merge an additional stand-alone relay-based load shedding system with the iLS-based ELMS for unified load management.
By leveraging ETAP's real-time load flow analysis and model-driven approach, FFC could effectively manage their electrical network and ensure uninterrupted operations. This presentation offers insights into the collaborative effort between ETAP and FFC to optimize operations and enhance reliability in the chemical plant's electrical system.
