How To Fly Factory Defense on IL-2 Multiplayer and do Bomber Interception

Seeing how I basically only play on the Finnish Virtual Pilot server, I wanted to make something that was specific to that server's mechanics but also touch up on some pointers that are useful for bomber interception in general. As someone who just started flying without anyone to mentor me this is great! I mostly fly 109’s or 190’s on the finnish server! What method do you use to look around? TrackIR?

In these videos I was using smooth track cell phone app + open track on desktop. I just got trackir 2 days ago because I felt like smooth track was too jagged for videos. Since getting it, trackir is a good upgrade but not necessary. There are several ppl I play with who are insane pilots who still use snapview due to muscle memory. Thx you for subscribing.

@@Enigma89 aha I did not know you could use your cellphone as a tracking device. I’ll have to check that out. Been using three hat-switches to look around and a button to reset to central view. I got a trackhat coming in the Mail which I am very excited about.

I tried to make it a bit more entry level because it seems like there aren't a lot of people in the know of how the EWS system works and the reason why people bomb depots on FVP. With that said, I will share one quick tip - when doing factory defense even on defense try not to forget to use flares. Our group will fly out toward the paths we expect them to come. Once one of us finds them, he will follow and as we get closer, the stalker will fire off a flare above the formation so we can all find them quickly and engage them faster. With how bad spotting is in IL-2, this makes it much easier to find targets and a good reference point.

I have moved also just to FVP. This was the first to show the EWS ranges so thank you. I am assuming they are cylindrical 5km radius, or is it a 10km radius for 20km total?

The time is based on the speed which will change based on the plane(s) but the distance is fixed so you can guestimate based on a 300kph IAS. Of course P-38s that come in at 2k and dive toward target will get there much faster as their speed will be faster.

Hi - Do you have any tips for solo attacks pls? I can get in and then usually get wasted straight after I’ve delivered the bomb run. Your video explains why this is happening which has helped. After the bomb run I’m low and slowing down fast as I escape. I know I’m disadvantaged but what can I do to decrease the risk and make it home? It seems I get bounced every time I try.
