Let me know your favourite part. I thought this was a neat one because of the progression from an enthusiast, to hobbyist and then to a professional module maker.

Nice interview! It's a cool opportunity to be able to work with Grinnelli, as well as a real F-100! I'm with you on the SME topic at 14:12, love the history behind these aircraft, but also know that none of us live forever. That's one part of the motivation behind working and learning with these aircraft.

F-100D will be a great addition, for me this era is so cool for aviation because of the experimentation and design classics that came from it. The English Electric Lightning and the F-8 Crusader, for me two of the most interesting and best-looking aircraft. They both ooze style.

There are REDFOR jets coming to DCS - J-8II, MIG-17, MIG-23 and (I believe) a SU-17/22 - could you push out a video with the module maker of the SU-17/22 please? That one seems to have disappeared
@Enigma89 Жыл бұрын
The Su-17 is not officially announced and there are 3 different teams working on it. I have no clue what the hell is going on with that plane.
@BrianTRice77 Жыл бұрын
3 teams seems like a real waste of effort, sadly. It would seem better if an ad hoc group could form around a project with a standard term sheet for revenue sharing once released. A lot of DCS projects have a historical preservation aspect to them, and maybe some national or even international flight society or museum could step in and reduce the risks people take on with the R&D.

F-100D is a great module for bluefor
@madaxe606 Жыл бұрын
Regarding the cost of these modules, I’m shocked at how cheap they are. Considering the amount of work that goes into creating them, and the amount of enjoyment and replay ability we get from flying them, $60 is an insane bargain. I really wish ED would consider making the core game a paid product, with a commensurate level of development from the revenue generated.
@Enigma89 Жыл бұрын
It is really surprising especially when you compare it to modules in other games.
@linecraftman3907 Жыл бұрын
The free to play and trialing scheme is to attract as much players as possible, get them a taste of the gameplay so that they would buy the module they wouldn't otherwise
@madaxe606 Жыл бұрын
@@linecraftman3907 Yes, but that comes at the expense of needing to continually releasing modules so as to ensure a steady stream of income. Which leaves DCS with an under-optimized core game.
@RedTail1-1 Жыл бұрын
Google "DCS F-100D" and see that in Aug 2022 All the hype was built around it. Since then? Nothing. That's how it goes with ED and Third Parties. Build the hype around it, then take 5-7 years to release it.
@Enigma89 Жыл бұрын
With how much research and time goes into seeing the viability of a project, it probably makes sense that things have to be announced early to basically signal to other module makers to avoid that plane.
@BrianTRice77 Жыл бұрын
Any project requiring a lot of R&D and interviews with SMEs (pilots, technicians, etc) is very risky, so I think it’s quite understandable for them to announce to “deconflict” as well as gauge interest levels (and stoke a little bit). It is too bad that the R&D phase has to be extremely quiet. I have such a project going in a totally different market and I know for a fact that progress updates would just make my potential market adopt a lot of destructive and negative attitudes. People don’t want to see the development struggle, and they evaluate every version of the project as the one you’re trying to sell them, so you hear a lot of “I would never pay for that” and those people insist on convincing others that it’s a waste of money all the way until delivery.

I was glad to hear someone else mention that the F-100 flew more sorties during the war in Vietnam than any other aircraft. So much attention for the F-4 and the Hun pilots carried a lot of water. Nicely done, nice interview. Thank you!
