A Birdo specific idea: Each race except for the first, try to get the placement that the highest placing Birdo got in the previous race. If there is no Birdo, then go for what the highest placing non-Waluigi got. If there are only Waluigis, you must play as Birdo for the next race and just do your best (You don't count when looking for non-Waluigi players, so if you were the only non-Waluigi in the race where you played Birdo, then the next race you still play as Birdo).

I think birdo is a species. Because yoshi is a species. The reason we call him yoshi is because there’s only usually one yoshi in the perspective game you’re talking about. But yoshis is the plural when there’s multiple. I think the same is with birdo. It explains why she comes in multiple colors like yoshi
