A bit of a challenge if you don't know you need to switch off the engines when you touch down on the runway to avoid falling off the end.

Well yes there are airfields, but they don't provide repairs or resupply. The best way to get back to an infantry squad while avoiding 'self-harm' would be to parachute out over the battle area. I've equipped my pilot with an SMG - and obviously you can swap the weapon over to whichever pilot you wish to use if you have multiple planes in a campaign. I had a spare SMG because I was trying to gamble on getting an upgraded SMG by buying them until I got a good one (which saves having to unlock the upgrades & paying for them with bronze weapon orders) - hence I ended up with a couple which were only level 1 - which I gave to my lowest exp assaulter plus my pilot. Also, as yet I've not found the other airfields yet - I use the editor to explore the maps, so I'll look for them and post vids of them soon hopefully.

Unfortunately, even though the flight physics are actually pretty good, there's no interactive cockpit controls and lots of missing details. DCS World has a really good P-51 with fully interactive cockpit controls - even the full startup procedure - and they include it free (but with no guns). I bought the version with guns in a sale quite cheap years ago, but then realised I need to buy an expensive map to even use it with other WW2 planes. I prefer knowing that the troops and tanks etc. are real players though - not just the other aircraft.

Thanks man. I'm gonna upload some better landings & CAS (Close Air Support) practice runs soon, plus some analysis of the planes players can unlock quite early in each campaign. I only just realised today that the P38 is a very early unlock in the Normandy Allies campaign - I didn't even know that when I recorded this vid - I just like that plane anyway. Gonna have fun with it in public servers very soon.
