I gave up writing music because, despite my parent's encouragement, they really didn't get it when all of my songs were basically one step video game music. I'm glad you're still putting yours out there.

Well, I can't speak to your experience, but I think finding some kind of motivation helps. I always found it easier to write music when I felt like I had to (class projects, game soundtracks) than when I was just doing stuff in my spare time. For some people it's the other way around, of course, but it's always easier to give up if you don't feel like you need to keep going.
