Same, and we're only hearing one version of it. When she role plays or gets caught in a natural moment, like a real laugh, her voice changes. She has a pretty wide range for speaking, and of course for singing. It kills me that she hates her voice and it kills me when she insists she's not that good of a singer. You know, while very entertaining, these two also demonstrate some serious emotional intelligence. Being able to talk openly and honestly about your own and someone else’s fears and anxieties, especially as they relate to our sense of self worth, is hard. That kind of discussion is not typical in our culture, especially internet culture, but it’s vital to being a fully formed person. This stream impressed me more than any song or other piece of “content” they could put out there.

Emotional intelligence is both a blessing and a curse. It shows a significant amount of self-awareness that's required for healthy growth, but on the flip side I think the reason why people like this can talk so openly about themselves is that their self image is so damaged in some way that they talk about it openly and casually as a way to cope. Like a "what does it matter what other people think about me when I'm already my own worst critic" kind of thing. Or maybe I'm just projecting.🤷

Maybe the reason is that when people have been made fun of, or have an insecurity that they think they'll be made fun of, they think "I'll be cool but starting it". Or they joke about themselves so that they seem more aloof than they really are. It'd like a self-aware mid-game boss intentionally showing off his weak point at the start of the fight. Seems cool, like "wow he's not taking this seriously", but also shows he's probably aware he's vulnerable and expects the worst, so he wants to get it over with. I know I'm projecting a lot. My three talents are making fun of myself, navelgazing, and realizing my navel doesn't look very good.

I very much prefer when a vtuber uses their own natural voice. I actually can’t think of a voice reveal where I preferred the fake voice. It’s hard to describe but the fake voice just feels too disingenuous to me. I can more easily accept the avatar. We modify our appearances IRL all the time, but we generally don’t create a new voice persona to impress others. I feel like at some point you’re trying too hard to be someone you’re not. Then I have a hard time feeling connected to that person because they aren’t even connected to themselves.
