I can't tell you how many times I have listened to this sermon and this series. I'm a 4 and feel constantly misunderstood. I struggle with feeling broken, useless, unwanted and invisible. Whenever I feel broken and invisible, I listened to this. This sermon articulated everything I couldn't express myself. When I heard this, I finally met the person that God made me to be. I need to remind myself who God says I am. I can't let what people think about me shape who I am, because frankly, I don't think they have any idea who I am. Now I know that I'm not broken, I'm unique. Thank you for showing me that.

I’m the youngest and I’m a 4, I think the idea that I could never fit in with my older siblings is what made me feel insignificant compared to them. It’s not always the middle child, it depends a lot on nature, and a little on nurture. I am also the only person in my family in the heart triad! Which makes this 4 so happy ☺️
@joanne89875 жыл бұрын
What's a heart triad??
@norawentzlaff57555 жыл бұрын
Joanne Caradonna there are 3 different “triads” in the enneagram, the heart, the gut, and the thinking. 5,6,& 7 are the thinking triad. 8, 9, & 1 are the gut triad. And 2, 3, & 4 are in the heart triad. It just adds to the theory of how we make decisions, based on our thoughts, gut, or heart.

I think my youngest sister is also a 4, because we are much more older than her and also have a special connection with our other sister (we're twins), which she've never experienced. The ones I’m intimate with tell me all these things that come easier to me and they admire me for those traits, and in my mind I’m always shocked because that’s just what I’ve had to do to survive in life. I think Saul is a loyalist, not a 4. He was afraid and hid when he was appointed king. He wanted to please the people, so he didn't wait for Samuel and his fear led him to sin. That is in no way the path of an individualist. Also, he was an extremely unhealthy 6, and picked up an evil spirit, which made him even more paranoid and fearful. I would propose John the Baptist, locust eater or Jeremiah, the weeping prophet in a time of judgment, listening and waiting for a word from the Lord,are better scriptural examples of a 4. While I'm a 2, not a 4, I felt it did a disservice to 4's to use this example.

as a four, I've felt like an outsider even sometimes at church, well during my teen years though because I was probably too shy and quiet.. I never been the extroverted person that speak in front of a crowd.. however on my walk with the Lord and specially at the workplace, had multiple people approach me and just randomly opening up, telling me stuff that I would've never thought, people that probably wouldn't be considered as "qualified" by either the world or religious standards. I always tried to listen with empathy to their feelings, I'm certain that empathy and intuition, that depth in which we can feel is one of our biggest strenght. Which unguarded can become a weakness, that's why we have to be so in tuned with our Father. My relationship with God specially is very a emotional, passionate, honest one, far from perfect... I don't know if David was a Four too, but there's nothing like crying your heart out to God and him listening and talking to you. There's a special connection there, specially with journaling, I love journaling with my messy heart and handwriting Lol. Everything, because God wants everything from Us, our hearts minds souls and strenght. It wouldn't surprise me if most Four type have the Spiritual Gift of Mercy, because we are Soul people and we feel.

Do you know the origin of the enneagram? God teaches us through the Bible, which is the only tool we need. Proverbs 30:6 warns us, "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar." The enneagram is strongly associated with New Age philosophy and has occultic origins. The man credited with introducing the enneagram to the West is George Gurdjieff. Gurdjieff was a mystic, philosopher, and spiritual teacher immersed in occultic practices such as astrology, mental telepathy, spiritism, fortune telling, and posession. One of his followers Oscar Ichazo, along with Claudio Naranjo (a psychiatrist and occultist) began relating the enneagram with personality types in the 1960s. In a 2010 interview, Claudio Naranjo admitted that he lied about the origins of the enneagram because he wanted his idea to become famous and widely accepted. Naranjo admitted the enneagram is not an ancient tool of Babylonian origin. He confessed he arrived at the nine personality types through "automatic writing," which is the process of producing written words while in a trance state. The words arose from a supernatural source. The bible warns us not to channel spirits (Leviticus 19:31). The enneagram is a demonic New Age teaching that is infiltrating the church. Please do your research, and remember the devil is the master of deception. Don't be led astray. 🙏🏼 The interview link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ2yZH6AjNOBmpo

"But the illustration of astrology brings in another factor, and that is the science of the thing. It is a reasonable question to ask whether being born under Venus has anything to do with anything. Put another way, personality tests tend to oscillate between pseudoscience and the glaringly obvious. They confirm their scientific bona fides by telling you things about yourself that everyone who knows you has already known for some twenty-odd years. When they tell you genuinely new information about yourself, there are reasonable grounds for doubting the accuracy of it, and when the insight is undoubtedly accurate, it is something that everybody knew already, especially your grandmother." dougwils.com/books-and-culture/s7-engaging-the-culture/the-enneascam.html

Such great idea to get this perspective into any walk in God. I struggled to practise loving my neighbour If I asked myself why and how I was to love my fellow man, true enough - I felt a compassion because of who Jesus is, and what he went through by choice- I struggled to know myself To accept the born nature of my daughter Whom I love But inwardly resisted. Now I know She is an Enneagram 8 and I am a 4. This insight has made a doorway into all that my struggles in this area were pushing me towards. It’s great to hear that churches are adopting this insight into born natures. Although us older people were into Hippocrates 4 temperaments. Choleric Phlegmatic Melancholy Sanguine And these were regarded as being expressed like two sides of one coin. The enneagram with it’s Wings into other numbered en. Is similar.

"The second reason I think Christians should stay away from the Enneagram is because this is the type of stuff that gives Christians and Christianity a bad name and makes it seem like Christians are anti-intellectual and anti-science. Me too!!! I believe that I’m a bit more of a balanced 4 but defiantly with a strong intellectual wing 5! I’ve had the EXACT same experience with crying and “fitting into” a church. I love the Lord though!!!

This is so true. I needed this. I have played so many parts, personalities, and interests throughout my life that I have no idea who I am. I remember liking the red gummy bears as a child but telling others that the green ones were my favourite just so I could be different.

Love this video so much, really resonate with much of the themes. For me personally I do want to be special but it doesn’t mean I want to be *more* special than other people. And I don’t wear ‘unique clothes’ or whatnot because I think I’m better than everyone else, I’m doing it bc it matters to me. To me personally. (He didn’t say this in the video but that’s what I tend to hear other people tend to say about 4s.) I don’t know why people tend to think that’s so controversial. But about the fearing being basic part, eh. I don’t know that I care about being basic. like, I drink Starbucks coffee and pumpkin spice lattes, for example. I don’t care about being a so-called, “basic white girl.” I think that label is harmful. You shouldn’t be made to feel dumb about what you wear or don’t wear, drink or don’t drink. If it’s harmful and/or is a stumbling block to others (i.e. wearing revealing clothing), maybe reconsider what you’re doing. But not because you fear being “basic.” People should be free to be able to do whatever they want and not made to feel dumb for it.

PASTOR MATT: As someone formerly deceived by the New Age, I wanted lovingly to ask, how much you know about the New Age and that people view this enneagram as the answer to 'who they truly are' and how they view this at its root in the occult as an enlightenment to 'godhood'? I highly encourage you to research more about the "cosmic" connection and origin of the enneagram. When I try to share this with people who are unfamiliar with the new age or are so steeped in both the new age and Christianity, they don't even want to discuss anything "bad" or perceptively 'bad' about the enneagram because they believe they found the Truth that helped them understand who they are...rather than the scripture. I hope that as a pastor you would find this disconcerting that people would rather be explained by the enneagram rather than digging further into scripture to understand who they are.

Thank you for this uplifting sermon. I've only found negative things written or spoken about 4's. And while I do understand that we have our flaws, tendencies, and eccentricities, it didn't help much to read/see that we are viewed in such a negative light and a hindrance to others. We are already so insecure about who we are and what's lacking ..that... that kind of confirmation did more bad than good. Listening to you speak, however, gave me strength to accept who I am and take the necessary steps to be the healthier, happier version of myself that I know I can be.

Hmm... while I definitely can draw a strong lesson from Saul’s envy and subsequent downfall, I always personally found a stronger connection with the story of Joseph. I feel like he is a more rounded, solid 4. He pretty much fits the bill of “the romantic /individualist” more readily than Saul.

skepticsplay.blogspot.com/2009/08/experiments-and-enneagrams.html?m=1 "The more I look into it, the more it seems like all of the personalities match, to varying degrees. But if I look carefully, all of them also have things which I think are totally wrong." "Another odd thing about the descriptions, is that several of them talk about feelings which we are unaware of. Gee, if I'm unable to discern my own feelings, I hardly expect a personality test based on numerology to know any better. I wonder. What would happen if I just took all the green text from my experiment, and created a new personality number 10? That would totally fit me much better than any of the other types!" The Enneagram is an invalid tool. And "tritype" just proves how invalid it is if you can continually make up new rules due to inconsistencies and contradictions. For being such an "ancient wisdom tool" (which it is not ancient), it sure seems to have made a lot of excuses and (ineffective) adjustments to try and hide its inaccuracies.

If you guys notice your views going up…. One by one…. I am telling everyone about these sermons and the enneagram. There is no one that has made it so clear and so beautiful and also accountable at the same time. I have these on repeat and I just understand a lot of people better so far. Lots of compassion! I have 2 brother in laws that are 3’s and that video is craccccking me up bc they are hard….. and I am prob a 4 and wing 3 and that is why I can see their flaws so well bc I have them. But omg I love the laughs I get too! Soooo good! Sorry for the run on sentences but…I can’t help it 😂

I was caught up in this enneagram stuff for a few years. It’s enticing, and it feels affirming. This is dangerous doctrine. The scriptures are all we need. God and His Word are sufficient. Please run from these things. They are rooted in the occult. We all need the true gospel. We cannot find the answers within ourselves. I’m telling you this because I was deceived for a long time, and I deeply regret recommending g this videos to loved ones. It is not good. Beware. This pastor needs to repent. Lots of bad theology coming from the pulpit.

This is good timing to relisten to this lol I was picked to be the champion for a specific missions project we are working on and I felt so inadequate. I typed my notes up yesterday, will present today and then tell the church the decision in two weeks...I kinda had been running from this though I had been asked before. @andrewcramer92004 жыл бұрын
Don't turn to the Enneagram for that, the Bible is enough. Also note we are not told to love ourselves (beyond our needs for food and stuff, that is what "love your neighbor as yourself" means, help others who have those basic physical needs), Jesus tells us to deny ourselves and follow Him. We are to deny our true nature, not lie to ourselves that we have a "true self" and a "false self", as the Enneagram claims. Remember, Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God, and love your neighbor as yourself. He says "these two" commandments, not three. We are NOT commanded to "love ourselves" the way that New Age false teaching says. Remember Paul referred to himself as "chief" of sinners. This is our position, humility before God and each other but "zealous for good works". Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth. There is no truth in the Enneagram or its underlying theories. christiananswersforthenewage.org/Articles_Enneagram.html

High functioning four with a one bend :) Warned! This is amazing so glad I found the channel! One of the best Preachers out there too. All I watch is Furtick and the like, so wow I can’t believe it took so long to find this! I finally stayed for the worship at the end and do forgive the oneness now, I just love these videos and the church so I’m owning it a bit too much maybe. I’m not sure why the soprano has the background position and is the one with the melody. Not sure why the alto has the lead. The sound is perfect live at my church but, man, I can’t watch the worship online live, so I get that the boards don’t transfer maybe. But wow that power tenor is off the wall amazing. Just gotta lower his volume or blend him in more. 😬😬😬😬 haha. I’m so glad you embrace the ones!!!!
