Not to mention the film for which this wonderful soundtrack was written. One of the greatest films in its genre, directed by Sergio Corbucci, and a worthy rival to such greats as the Dollars trilogy and “Once upon a time in the West” (amongst many others), which also has an outstanding Morricone soundtrack.

​@@simondavies4603 It's appropriate that the different, weird, dark and spectacular western have a different weird dark and spectacular soundtrack A lot more subdued than his scores for the Dollars movies, I think, and it really works. The Great Silence is not really an epic myth, after all, or at least not a happy one.
