Ennio Morricone, by far one of the worlds best composers of the 20th century. Such emotion, such insight, it is a language all its own.

My hero died today 😔 One of the greatest. In his humility he believed his own contribution was minuscule compared to Bach’s. Imagine composing and orchestrating this! His music is a gift from God.

I agree fully with you Jonathan. I’ve been watching so many versions of this and they are nothing but class. Every single one of them. No egos anywhere, just pure professionalism. If he thinks that he’s minuscule then I don’t know what that makes me.

Damn ... This music brings tears to my eyes whenever I hear it. From the greatest Western film ever made, too. The final scene, as Robards dies, and Harmonica rides off, the pan out over the future being built before our eyes, rips into me every time... Thank you, for the union of Leone and Morriconi !!!

Ennio Morricone Once upon at time in the west is timeless, especially with Susanna Rigacci her beautiful powerful soprano voice makes me cry every time I hear it. Ecstasy of gold & Jill's theme & of course fistful of dollars. The whole soundtrack of both movies is totally leaves you speechless & in tears. Do others cry 😢 when you hear Susanna's voice. Those high notes knock my 🧦 off 📴.

In the latter half of the 20th century, Italy had two of the giants in film music: Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota (who passed away in 1979). One could never get tired of listening to their film music. Morricone will have his 90th birthday celebrated at a special concert on November 10 in Rome. Morricone also just announced that he will no longer compose music.
