I am jealous, but more importantly I am proud that you saw him! I'm just grateful that they're still folks out there that will go to concerts other than Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, etc. I went an saw John Williams perform a while ago, it was fantastic! I plan on seeing André Rieu soon in Georgia! But sadly I don't think that will be possible because of the current weaponized virus. His performance of "Conquest of Paradise" is absolutely stunning and breathtaking! Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eovCf3yjjq-em5I

Used to sit watching Leone Westerns all day with my dad in the late 60's and 70's...taught me about "Less is more". The beautiful evocative music of Morricone was used to tell the stories with close ups of the actors faces and wide cinematic screenshots of the land. This was truly groundbreaking cinema at the time the world is a poorer place for the loss of both these geniuses but even now, a couple of weeks after the passing of the Maestro I'm still here listening to his music all the time. You sir were, are, and always shall remain a legend to me and many more like me I'm sure.

I totally admire Zimmer & Williams among other composers, their talents are exceptional, but their music has roots in classical music, meanwhile Ennio was more innovative and unique than his peers in his Westerns, especially the "Man with a Harmonica"...there's nothing else like it. Ennio made that harmonica scream and wail and was utilized as a chilling evocation of the pending tragedy in the film. The guitar is also an unsettling addition. That one scene has no peers on film....extremely moving and memorable, it burns into one's soul. It's haunting, yet sheer perfection. Ennio's use of vocals and whistling is also a unique trademark of his genius. RIP a master has left us, but thank God his music remains for the ages!

It is one of my favorites, it was the soundtrack of the French film The Professional with Jean Paul Belmondo, and I have no choice but to coincide with Lalo Schifrin's answer, when asked about the success of the Impossible Mission series, if the success it was due to the scripts, the actors, or the soundtrack; his response: "We were a formidable work team." It will take many years for us to see each other again, and I am not referring to outstanding artists, but to those formidable work teams, who with little and no budget and with great ingenuity gave us works of art that we treasure. Morricone's orchestration is incomparable. He takes all sorts of sound making devices, from whistling, humming, hammers on metal, whatever, and creates unified sounds. He's not a Mozart or even a Beethoven. They merely used existing instruments. He created new sounds. He's more a Wagner. And although Morricone certainly utilized motifs much like Wagner, the sounds and the melodies are again beyond the imaginations of Wagner. And like Wagner, Sergio Leone filmed and edited the scenes and actions to the music, not the other way around as in most movie scores.

Not really, hollyweird is nothing but freaks, perverts, sheeple, clooneys, deniros, decaprios and now pitts and depps. The majority of America has stopped watching these blood money films. Vote with your dollar by watching directors with character and morals.

Just watched "Once Upon A Time in the West" one day before he died. The opener song, 'Jill's Theme', sounds so much more powerful now. What a great composer Morricone was, one of the last of the old greats. It's one thing to create good, inspiring music, it's another thing to completely define it. The Western sound and song is Ennio Morricone's for generations to come. RIP

everyone knows the "The Ecstasy of Gold" it's a classic but I remember attending my 1st Metallica concert and hearing "The Ecstasy of Gold" playing over the PA for the band coming on stage it was an absoutely mind blowing experiance I was stood in F'ing tears being surrounded by 10 thousand hardcore metal fans. i love many bands n genres of music but have neven been touched so deeply and emotionally more by any other peice of music ever. everytime i hear this piece i still well up it still has that same impact as the 1st time i heard it in a concert hall setting. this imo is one of the great peices of music ever written and of all time. Thank You so much Mr Ennio Morricone for this remarkably beautiful gift.

This absolute Genius of a man set my heart on fire back in 1994 when I purchased an album called pure moods. A compilation of easy listen songs and Tunes, this when I first heard the mission theme and just a boy of 20 my heart just knew I was listening to pure musical genius. Sad I never got to see him live but so grateful for the cds, the vinyls, these videos on KZbin that I can listen to at my leisure, what gift he gave to us all, the love, the sorrow, the joy, the pain and every other emotion under the sun he shared with us through his musical talents. Certainly the greatest of my time. Thank you for sharing with all of us! ❤️
