My sewjo left me over the last month and didn’t come back until I visited my sister in Oregon last week where we went fabric and sewing machine shopping. I batch cut for 3 pairs of wide-legged pants. We’re both making pants, same fabric with different patterns and both pursuing quilting. Even if you love, love a hobby, you need that downtime so that inspiration can find you again.😊

Oh my goodness, Jen. The universe must have steered me to your video. I've been feeling the same way, especially with the political stuff. I forced myself to stop looking at Instagram and other social media because ads and memes would still creep in. It took me a while to realize what was making me feel the way I was feeling; and actually started thinking about not posting on KZbin again because no one watches my videos and there are so many sewing channels what to I have to offer, etc. But this morning I had my weekly zoom call with my great group of ladies (sewists) and my inspiration started coming back. And now, watching you, I don't feel so alone and helpless 🌞🌞 And I am so over the relentless heat Northern California has been having!!! But thank you, I feel better now (after ranting) and after hearing you are feeling a bit of the same. I hope you have a great weekend and next week!

Rant anytime! So much of the political stuff is just poison. I had to make myself stop watching so much of it - and then the Olympics happened and it was all great until it wasn't. You and Stephanie in that CA heat - at least it's not fires! Yet! We're heading into hurricanes, one is passing by as I'm sitting here. If it's not one thing it's another - but I'm thankful we have a creative outlet. I'm getting there, I'll catch up to you soon! xox

Jen!! My remedy for “ennui” is to start by counting my blessings. Refocus your thoughts from the big bad world to your own personal small blessed world. Next, when you feel the most troubled by events around you, say to yourself “I have faith that God will support our fight to destroy evil. He does not abandon his faithful. I have faith.” This remedy renews me every time.

Some days and weeks are better than others, that's for sure. Having the ability to hear so much from everywhere around the world 24/7 can be a mixed blessing - and sometimes for our own good we just have to back off a little bit and get distracted by something else - like sewing videos! We do what we can and turn the rest over to God. Hope the storm is not a bad one and that you come up with a sewing project that gets you excited - I love that black and white fabric!

Whenever I wear an 8640 I just float around and feel wonderful 💃🏻Hope you get another sewn whichever fabric you choose ❤. Funny you happen to be filming out on your lanai, Jen. Went to FL last week to buy a house. Couldn't find a floorplan I liked that had a lanai, so I ended up purchasing a house with a 3-car garage that had a floorplan I like. Figured a larger garage would be more practical than a lanai. I could always have one built on later if I really had to have one. Also had S8640 on the brain for the last few months and just ordered some GORGEOUS cotton fabric that was on sale at Hancock's of Paducah website. My first makes after I get my house set up and fairly operational is a few cotton dresses. Will still be hot enough to wear and enjoy. Oh! Hancock's website has some beautiful batik cotton fabric on sale that might interest you. Will be meeting Trish at some point for lunch at Grill's (seafood restaurant) after I get moved later this month. Hope to meet you also! 🥰 Dori

Nice selection for scripture. Thanks for sharing. It’s is easy to get dragged into the political KZbin videos when all I want to see is the sewing. I try to avoid them because it’s to much and is only going to get worse . But I love the many sewing videos that are shared. Thanks to you for getting the #Friday Sews messages started.

I felt a bit overwhelmed with what I had seen or listened to on youtube. I sometimes sew or knit or clean with a video on in the background and what I had been listening to was quite dark and having a bad effect, even if it was informative. I felt I needed a cleanse, so I told myself I will only watch videos that are edifying, beautiful or lift my spirit. If they don't meet that criteria, I hide them and I deleted all my watch history. The only exception I'm making is for educational content but it may also not be unedifying, ugly or make my spirit sink. I don't know if it will last long time but I feel much better for it now.

My sewjo has diminished. This last week I had surgery for a torn and detached retina. Surgery was unsuccessful. I will have surgery again this week. I may be face down for 6 weeks!

Yes I did see how sheer that is when I was editing, almost put a title slide in there saying so. I am reconsidering, despite the fact that there may not be enough of it anyway - and yes on both faith and standing up. I actually quit watching the olympics for a couple of days and missed Simone's all around performance. But in the end it's the athletes themselves that should be protesting. Thankfully I'm not interested in anything but gymnastics and swimming, and my husband pointed out that the athletes train for this sometimes for their whole lives. To discredit their work by not watching isn't doing anything positive. But standing behind and watching everyone that does speak out does. I have a very small voice. But it is on Twitter. And I am speaking.

I avoid the news as much as possible because the very nature of it is depressing. It depends on who you listen to and the way that they want you to understand something rather than an unbiased presentation of the facts. You can listen to the same story from different states, countries etc… and you won’t ever get the same message from it. It’s like listening to tittle tackle, everyone puts their own slant on it. If there’s something big happening I tend to get the gist of it from a couple of different angles just to get an awareness, then watch Penny the talking cat for a bit to put things into perspective 🤣. Do what makes you happy and focus on the things that make you feel light, have awareness of other things but we head towards our point focus. You are a good person, bad things make you feel heavy and sad… you lift other people by sharing what makes you happy. Sounds like you need a bit of fun to lift your spirits. X

I’m sorry you’ve been feeling “meh” lately. I get enough drama with just work and family stuff, I try to avoid it elsewhere so I don’t watch the news or KZbin videos outside of sewing. My hubby is obsessed with political videos and all they do is get him angry… so no thank you! I hope you get to spend some time with your grandson. Children have a way of getting you in a joyful mood! 💞
