The bill states the following: “Criminal Code Chapter 13. Bill C-16. The prohibited grounds of discrimination are race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family status, disability and conviction for an offence.” The misuse of gender pronouns, without more, cannot rise to the level of a crime. It can only be considered a crime if advocating genocide, inciting hatred, hate speech or hate crimes.
