Thanks for this. Grew up in Minneapolis. Local dealer in town 1974 or 1975 called Brown Photo had one of these for sale. Was mesmerized by the appearance of this beautiful piece of gear. Had to settle for a 2230.

Sounds pretty good using Windows Sonic for Headphones too. It does a surprisingly decent job of converting discrete surround tracks to virtual surround.

i'm actually pretty impressed how the rear channels have a good separation, for a long time i though the rear channels in PLII was mono just like original PL

In fact, the improvement between PL and PLII was the addition of two channels in the rear.

More please! I'm a huge fan of music in surround sound and i know there has been a lot of music recorded on Quardaphonic records and tapes. This kind of music sounds fabulous on a Dolby Pro Logic II Reciever. So if anyone out there has Quadraphonic music, please upload it in HD or HQ for us audiophiles out there.

Works with my headphones on my soundcard with Dolby Headphones and Dolby Pro Logic IIx enabled. Clearly hearing the sax on back right and trombone on back left.

Wonderful sound! I can get great separation through my decoder from Involve Audio hooked into my 1976 Marantz 4400 also perfectly restored by Chris Ready. I'm listening along with your device, and comparing the scopes. My scope is not graphing as discrete as yours on the video, but all channels are there, and sound great for KZbin standards

I think the scope might just have a blue overlay. I could be wrong. I've never seen one that doesn't drift a bit. Mine takes a long time to stabilize to the middle. Chris Ready at readyaudio near Philly did the restoration on my receiver. He knows these things inside and out.

Tab! I know you thanks to KCJJ and the search of music in surround by accident. I got quite a huge collection of DTS-CD, Super Audio Compact Disc and DVD-Audio. The modern version of Quadraphonic sorta speak. Like you i'm a huge fan of music in surround sound and i don't understand why there is such a few out there with this taste of music. If you're a fan of music you want to be in the middle of it no matter what, and Quadraphonic, DTS, SACD and DVD-Audio is able ot give you that exact experience. Audiophiles RISE UP! And let the world know what surround should be with music.

Thanks. Do you know which is the best algorithm for DPL2 encoding of 5 mono sources manually using a wave editor? I tried L to LT, R to RT, C*0.5 to both, LS*1 to LT + LS*(-0.5) to RT, and RS*(-0.5) to LT + RS*1 to RT. Is this correct? Some suggest using 0.707 coeff (3db) instead of 0.5 (6db) Which is best?

Front Left and Front Right unaltered. Rear Right = -180degrees +6db Rear Left = -180degrees +6db Front Center is just a mono signal blended into FR +FL.

Believe it or not but even on DTS Neo:6 the surround is amazing, so if anyone has reciever with DTS Neo:5 give it a try and be amazed with the sound of Quadraphony.

No se diria que era mejor, pero fue una novedad cuando se paso a grabar en la decada de los 70s de 8 a 16 canales, lo que hizo posible lograr el efecto cuadrafonico que era analogo en su totalidad. Esto fue algo que con el tiempo dio paso al Dolby ProLogic analogico como una especie de 4.0 para luego continuar con el actual Dolby Digital que tiene como base el modo 5.1, de cualquier manera un sonido cuadrafonico era muy novedoso para su epoca, pero tambien habia que tener el equipo de sonido adecuado para escucharlo y aqui se aprecia una excelente fidelidad al haber sido tomada la pista de la fuente original.
