Take it from a guy who has eaten many mangoes: the pit is flat on two sides, so use your pocket knife to cut through the mango right against one side of the pit. Eat the meat out of that half with a spoon. Repeat for the other half of the mango. Now, peel or cut the skin off the perimeter of the pit, stick your knife in the pit, and eat the meat right off of it. With practice it's possible to do this without getting any juice on your hands. I love mangoes so much, I actually have a special spoon with me at all times that is ideal for this sort of thing. You want a spoon that is kind of thin so it separates the meat from the skin easily without tearing the skin.

I am so divided on this issue. This looked to me like a perfectly healthy and magnificent tree. What kill it and take it down? So sad to me. The wood should be taken where woodworkers can buy it for projects. You do a safe and superb job and are fascinating to watch. Grown men trying to eat a mango without a knife, but works with cutting tools daily...squeezing a salad into submission and it fights back with kale...and the team effort making sure the elf is honored in several different poses. My Irish side appreciates that. You make me laugh, your work is perfect and it makes me want to hold some sort of a dendroid funeral in sadness.

It has to be bittersweet to do jobs like this. On one hand, it’s a heck of an experience and it keeps the company and crew paid. On the other hand, massive trees like this are becoming more and more scarce. It’s really surprising how young it was, though. I expected it to be well over 100 years old.

You mentioned a Lebanese cedar... my brother-in-law had one in his front yard that started losing tops in storm. 3 came down in one night, damaged two of his neighbor's vehicles. Fortunately they were parked illegally so he was clear of liability, but he immediately had a friend come over to take it down. It took 6 days for the 3 of us to take that tree down. It had three trunks branching out within 10 feet of the ground, the smallest of which was over 4ft in diameter. It ended with 58 TOPS!!! We had campfire wood for years!
