Garage is good size for me. Fits Can-Am three-wheeler, would replace one couch with desk top to have standing desk for office, upper bunk for occasional guests. This is the RV I’ve been most seriously been looking at buying.

Very good video. I like everything about this RV, however I love your idea of reducing the garage space in order to increase the kitchen/dining/living room area. The second full bath is a big plus when a large family is staying in this unit.

Looks liike this is an older vid here but this use of the double sided slides in TH is absolutely something they should have with everyone of them made. This one was done much more "Right" compared to those with the wall of a couch, tiny kitchen with no space to move. Been looking at the Seismic models with the side patio, losing out with one concept but the patio is surely a oool concept for the full timing with the Toy Hauler. Like you taught me some time ago.. There is only "SO MUCH" with SO MUCH SPACE they can do and I'll never find "the dream" I assumed there was available. It's the time to do it, time to decide, and time to make it happen in a few weeks!

Yes this is a excellant toy hauler, UPGRADES that can be done is the all 3 axle's can be upgraded to 8,000 lb with disc brakes. Yes you can also get the unit with the MORryde Independent Suspension System. Another upgrade is with the fridge, A residential fridge. You can ask the dealer about getting installed a washer and dryer. Also get Cargo trays for the basement area. This is all the upgrades that I know about. Some day this will be my ultimate toy hauler with a ram 3500 dually.

We just released the tour of our 397TH. Check it out to see how different they are. The lights over the sink are different in ours. We are loving that big fridge. We’ve been in ours 2 weeks today. Jarhead retired and we moved to TX from Japan to go full time. We just got our shipment from Japan and are trying to get it all organized in our 397. You should check out the shower in ours. We have a rainmaker, handheld sprayer, and 2 body jets! Amazing!

Ditto on hoarding the TP in the main bathroom.... That being said, I too would rather have a shelf in the middle of that space which would make it much more usable. There's a lot of nice little storage areas in this RV, which makes it all the more usable for full-time RVing. The colors are also nice and neutral for this unit and the couch's in the garage have very nice looking covers on them. I would prefer having independent suspension or 8K axels for something that big.

The reason they didnt put a shelf in the bathroom storage is because they expected people to hoard the toilet paper in there. 😂

@ Jaunt Junkies. Your Can Am would fit in a 12 FT toyhauler garage with no problem at all and no you don't have to go dully for a toyhauler there are a bunch of single rear wheel trucks that will properly be able to tow your toyhauler weather it's a 5TH wheel or a bumper bull

It’s nice , to nice for what I’d want in a toyhauler. I want zero carpet in living room and kitchen areas ( that’s something to catch dirt and grime ) And I didn’t catch you telling how tall the rear cargo area was. 12 foot worth of cargo length is normally plenty unless you have a 4 seated SXS, but most of us in the south and some up north we raise ours up to clear big tires My CanAm Commander is at 7’ ft tall and I know mine is low compared to a lot of peoples SXSs

I agree 110% on the garage space. I want the garage but don't want to add 10-15 feet to my 5th wheel. If they made one like that with 6ish feet of a garage, and 25-28 of the rest of the trailer that would be in the specs I'd like.

If you ever want to carry a4 passenger rzr or can am you HAVE to have the longer garage. Do your homework on sizes. GD did a good job with the triple axles. I would really like to know how the underpinning should make up the floor are made for the garage. most of the toy haulers have two light of underpinnings.

My wife and I have been looking at "Toy Haulers" for almost a year now, trying to decide which one would fit our needs best. This 397TH from Grand Design has the best floor plan we have seen so far for us and our needs. I have viewed this model in-person on two different occasions. I have read lots of reviews and and many forums researching this model and brand. I have also spoken to several Grand Design owners, asking them what their experience has been with the manufacturer and most had positive things to say. Yes! "you will" have problems with any brand of RV whether it be a travel trailer, 5th wheel or a motor home. There is just something about taking a big wooden box and dragging it down the interstate at 70 mph that causes things to go wrong. Grand Design appears to be a manufacturer that tries to build good quality campers and from the folks I have talked too, the company seems to care about the quality and service that the customer receives. Of course this all just my opinion. Always! Always! do your own research, read the reviews, watch the videos and go through the forums. Visit the dealers lots and look at as many of the different designs and brands as you can. Educate yourself as much as possible so you can make your own decision based on facts and function not guesses. I am very thankful for people like JD, that makes videos like this so we can see what's out there in the RV world. I think when my wife and I are ready to purchase another 5th wheel, it will be the 397th from Grand Design. Hey JD, I love your videos sir! Keep up the good work and Happy Holidays!

I think you make a good point about a shorter garage and reusing that space. You could offer a bunk house there or use it to expand the living area. But I think the toy hauler you want in may already exist. There are several units out there where the garage is under the master bedroom in the back where the bed raises up to give the garage height. If want you want is space for bikes or maybe a motorcycle or two those units are perfect.

@@BigTruckBigRV The garage pretty much acts as the bunkhouse via the happy jacks bunks. They do also offer the updated Momentum 395MS that does have a large 14' garage but also more seating in the main area instead of the full size bathroom with a 1/2 bath in the garage.

Great video,...Our first RV was a 2019 GD 397TH that we lived in for a year as we traveled across the US. It was a great RV. But due to lifestyle changes we sold it and now have an Alliance Paradigm mid bunk that we like better. We felt the same way about the cramped dining/living combo with no separation it was short on living space. The "Big MO" we used to call her would draw a crowd at the RV park though. It definitely was cool. With the led lighting and Rockford Fosgate stereo it had the wow factor for sure. I do miss it but when we loaded her down with my XP4 RZR and camping supplies it tipped the scales at 20K, it was a load behind my 3500 dually. Grand Design as with Alliance have been wonderful to deal with after the sale. Highly recommend them..

Nice rig but I agree with your assessment of the squished-together living/dining/kitchen area. It would be nice to have an alternate floorplan with a smaller garage as you suggested so the living space wasn't so cramped. I do love the second full bath! It is the size of the bathrooms in smaller Class C or small travel trailers. Love the patio area! Would be a great place for my dogs to have a contained area to run around in.

I LOVE the bigger garage. I was originally looking at the 376TH because of the garage being separate from the living space, and the plush family room area. Unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to fit a 2 seat Polaris General in that garage.... So it looks like the 397TH is on my short list.

One of the nicest RV's I've seen. It's the first one that actually meets the needs I'd want out of a toy hauler. I would actually want the cargo area a tad longer to make fitting one of my little British cars inside easier, but 12.5 ft. is just long enough (my car is 12' long). The rear elevated bed would be replaced with mounts for bikes (I don't care about sleeping space for kids I don't have). I love how it has the W/D in the bedroom rather than in the garage space - something I don't like about a lot of toy hauler designs. If there is one downside it's you would need a beast of a truck to move this sucker...

I'm with you on the garage. I've been looking at rv's for full time and thought a toy hauler would be nice for the extra storage space/mudroom. But I don't think I've seen one yet with a living room. If they shortened the garage, you could have a much more comfortable living room and kitchen. Maybe even get rid of the second bathroom.

Love grand design. And I am finding toy haulers to be very flexible in term of use. And I believe grand design insulates their garage floors. Not sure if it is all their toy haulers. I agree on the idea of smaller garage/bigger living room option. It’s like all the toy haulers are so similar. With 12, 16, 18 ft garages Surprised they put the W/D in bedroom when many of they toy haulers have them in the garage. (Best place in my opinion) And they could not find a way to not put that small piece of carpet????

I'm looking for a toy hauler but don't have any toys to haul. I like the smaller garage. Thinking of living in a rv full time for travel nursing. The garage would have a couple items from my mom like a chest for the 1960s, maybe a desk, and a crate for my dogs (I have 1 dog who likes to hide esp from loud noises) patio great place to set up an easel and paint.

I love it! And I agree with the smaller garage because 8 feet is enough for me however 4 wheelers can stack on top of each other also myself I would just put 2 water totes back there about 500 gallons and the bed above leaving a lot more space for a separate dining and living space but maybe the L shaped couch could go up to the ceiling with a removable wall or a wall that hinges up below either the bed or the couches! Also I’m really not a big fan of the rubber 12 year roofs fiberglass or aluminum only and the banks really should require no rubber roofing for the bank loans! Also there’s really no need for an interior entry into the garage accept to access the upper bed so permanent couch all the way across and the ability to hydraulic stack 4 wheelers or a single bed access from the inside! With it like that I would put the second bathroom next to the front door near the other bathroom with a center entry to the bedroom and a 24 inch deep pantry on the other side! With slide outs in it’s better to put the pantry near the door for shopping access without having to put out the slides! I like the center king bed in front with the closet slide out to include the washer dryer! Front windshield and double front slide out above the bed with window on the front one. I have snow birdied for 7 years so I have experience and I price that high who will buy it to park it in a garage? I’m really hoping that used come up for sale with this design because with Covid and so many people going from job to job having no stability this is what a lot of people need like me currently! It’s like build it for the next owner and the next! Also children need a little tub in the rear shower just 18 inch deep and Less water used.

Most people with toy haulers aren't just carrying bicycles. Most have side by sides, golf carts, Can-Am 3 wheelers or large motorcycles. A small garage would be for a very small market. I'm personally looking at this model because I have a Snap-On tool box and a Suzuki DR400SE to carry, along with some boxes. I'll be using the loft are as storage.

This is the exact one we live in full time. We added more shelving in the bathroom & bedroom. Storage is not a problem and we especially love the extra counter space on the kitchen island. The storage above the living room tv is perfect for my husbands whiskey collection.😆 Both bathrooms are easily accessible with the slides in for pit stops on travel days. Would definitely recommend this rig, it’s been a dream for us to live & travel the US in. Check out our account to see how we use it.

Most garages need to be at least 12’6” to take a RZR. I love the 381m because it has a fifteen foot garage

20,000 GVW, 3,500 lbs more than my Open range, but I have a cargo capacity almost 1,000 lbs more. And I'm not a toy hauler (376FBH). I'm constantly amazed at the relatively pathetic cargo capacity of modern toy haulers.

My thoughts on the garage: I need at least another 1.5 feet :( Trying to fit a Can Am 4 seater which is just over 13.5 feet long. I just can't seem to find the luxury and garage! I don't mind having a smaller living room, since we would be mostly hanging in the garage or in respective rooms. I really really like the Voltage with the actual 3 separate closed off bedrooms (plus bunks!!!). Looking for exactly that but with at least enough garage to fit the Can Am.. I Just can't seem to find it! Great video!

Big fan of the momentum’s, hoping for a 29g someday.....but, on the same line of thinking, why can’t I get an RV without a garage but also have a back patio.....or can I , lol....

At some point could you explain low point drains. It may be a silly question to ask but i cant seem to get a solid explanation.
@noahparker6209
@noahparker6209 3 жыл бұрын
@John Pozuek. what lower point drains do is think of it as there draining out of the water so it doesn't clog up something in the system of your RV

"Low point drains" are small valves used to drain (empty) the water supply system for sanitizing and winterizing, etc. All RV's that I've seen also has a separate low point drain for the fresh water holding tank. Low point drains are not used on the black water and grey water tanks.

That sucks, we have the same model and year but we didn’t get the better/new Morryde steps, a TCL tv in the bedroom(it’s a random Logix tv), and the lights on the back of ours are so big, you can’t put the camera without taking the cover off of the light, on that one the lights are way smaller so you would be able to put the camera.

I much prefer my washer and dryer to not be in the bedroom. I do like the idea of a larger living room area, but I don’t have anything that would take much space in the garage.

Looking to buy one of these... did a walkthrough today and was very impressed. Planning on full timing. Now need to find the right truck. Dually - check, Diesel - Check, 4.10 or 3.73? 5000# pin weight? Dualles seem in short supply in my neighborhood. Are there brokers that specialize in Duallies?

I need a 12+ foot garage for a sxs, and its only a 2 seater. Many 4 seat sxs are 15+ feet. I was specifically looking for a separate 12+ foot garage as I didnt want to haul a dirty sxs in the livingroom on our way home.

I said it in one of your other videos. It’s great to have the flex space in the back but don’t sacrifice the living and kitchen area. I bet LUXE would be able to create that kind of space.
