I think it's funny how hard Nintendo dropped the ball with the Paper Mario Series that they have to go back to the second game to generate any hype with that brand again.

Regarding cases like Another Code, a lot of these remakes that have a high potential of losing elements from their older versions could greatly benefit from including a version of the original. DS and Wii U games have had great conversions for a while from DS Virtual Console to the Mega Man ZX Collection and presumably Etrian Odyssey HD 1-3. As far as just going to use an emulator or Fightcade etc, even with everyone on KZbin who is an enthusiast of some sort, there is always a barrier... Perhaps it is just because they want to follow a "new" hype cycle - the reason why people play Bayo 2 or 3 rather than 1. (I usually only get later games after earlier ones) Perhaps they can't be asked or are incapable of running the game on that hardware. (I do this as my laptop is arse, but admit I have no great excuse to not try the bulk of GameCube, Wii and Wii U games whenever) Perhaps they want to support the industry a little too much to recognise great stuff, hence why they overlook solid fan translations, games and mods. Mother 3 being the king of examples. The majority of people are lazy and will follow the new hardware cycle and that even applies to KZbinrs who usually only dip into mods or older stuff if it is their niche or they dont have a choice for that series. Sonic Riders 3 isn't going to make itself. I don't think you were that cynical, but I'm probably been set for life for distractions many times over whether or not they remake/port my golden geese (F Zero GX, Kid Icarus Uprising). I do think preservation of older games needs to get a lot better than holding for something to not mess up or overhaul half of the appeal.

What makes PM2 kinda special is that that Nintendo actually gave people what they wanted. No remake of the first game. Just straight to the game people begged them to remake. Also: If you really want a physical copy of the game, even at $70 dollar this remake is so much cheaper. Otherwise, I obviously agree.

I’m pretty sure they skipped paper Mario 1 bc is already in Nintendo switch online. Sure you could say the same for Mario RPG but that game is pretty dated.

I feel that Another Code bit. I'm very happy about the Remake, but no matter what they will do with it, even if it's amazing, it'll always come with the flavor of being inherently less innovative and interesting than the OG.

​@@ziadbruhif you want my opinion on this your points are actually very valid I don't necessarily like ideas of remake games I don't mind them existing because if they have a little twist in comparison to the original or have improvements of aspects of the original I feel like I can be interesting when done right. I also would like newer games newer ideas newer IPS even more imagination but in different areas because I feel like it's more of the case of reliving old glories of the games that were fan favorites but not really the point of what made them great which some games actually do do understand that but I feel like that's more of a bandage to a solution then actually being imaginative when it comes to making high quality games if you understand what I mean( I would really like to hear your opinion on this if you read this.) But then again these higher budget companies aren't exactly taking their games in a more creative side and putting more time in effort on the business money side to making games which is understandable but they also need to see the point of what makes games a game and what makes them fun and not consumer exploitable that way when people do support newer games and add new ideas alongside that both sides get awarded with the quality given they get their money and the consumers specifically us gamers get to enjoy the quality given within the game but I guess not all of them see it that way especially when having integrity commitment respect in a gaming environment.

During the brief window where companies were releasing 'mini consoles' that were emulator boxes I felt like there was a more sincere effort to understand and reissue older titles and market them to normies. Because its easier to convince someone to buy a box that does the configuration for them rather than setting up retroarch on a dell optiplex. Quietly hoping that the promising development in intergrated circuits translates into a bunch of low cost retro gaming machines for casual players

I do not mind the number of remakes at the end of a generation. Really does feel like the Switch itself is winding down in some respect, so I think offloading real new development makes sense. However, I do hope that with Switch 2, we do get more NEW new shit. Like, a new DK game would be awesome and makes sense to reveal next year.

Remakes and remasters are fine I think, at least for quite old games, that you can make them look and feel exactly as you remember (And not how they used to look and feel). On the other side, if the game itself doesn't really need a remake, no. In fact, there are a dozen remakes I'm hoping for and years will pass before I get them. Will there ever be a Terranigma remake? I'll never know. So... Metroid Prime remakes/remasters? YES. A Link to the Past remake/remaster? A part of me wants it, but probably no. The Last of Us remakes/remasters? No, no, no.

He’s back! Remakes don’t really get me that hyped since I usually tend to want new experiences. Really my exceptions are if there’s a game I really wanted to play but it’s stuck in exclusivity on some old console (not as much of a problem now since I’m a working adult and I can buy things) or as a bargaining type of deal. What I mean by bargaining is like maybe a company thinks making a whole new game for a franchise would be too risky since most of the talent has left or something like that, but a remake could both test the waters to see if the series could still do well and get the company’s current employees familiar with the details of the IP. Basically yes I want F-ZERO GX with online play EVEN if the people who have been playing it for years will be slidebloosting at Mach 20 all over the track 🤣
