If you're a long time Soda Crab fan, no you aren't crazy; I have indeed made this video before. It's a remake, a Soda Crab Heart Gold and Soul Silver, if you will. I really liked the script and general concept for that video, but given that it was my first one, the end product is not something I'm happy with today. I thought it would be fun to remake it, and lo and behold, it was indeed fun to make :)
The old one is still up if you want to watch it for some reason, but it's been removed from any playlists just to avoid confusion.

I’m pretty sure objectively speaking the only pokemon solo run that’s actually impossible to beat (assuming glitchless and only one of the solo Pokemon on your team, or 2 in games with mandatory double battles, OR 3 for that one rotation battle in BW2) is gen 1 Caterpie, since any ghost type immediately hard walls you due to Struggle not affecting ghost types in gen 1. Pinsir, despite only getting Normal and Fighting moves, gets Mimic which can potentially give it an out against any ghost types. And while by all means impossible in 99.999% of circumstances, you could hypothetically beat the game with one of the very few ‘University Magikarp’ given out as a prize in Japan, which knows Dragon Rage.

To an extent I think that might just be a result of reading the script line by line and not being able to match it up well unless you talk like that. I’ve tried narrating both 100% scripted and 100% off the top of my head and I’m not really comfortable with either (and also writing the script ahead of time takes far longer)

Yes ofc you can beat most games with most Pokemon. Only a few Pokemon are actually a challenge or impossible. Most official mainline Pokemon games are really easy (aside from postgame bossfights), if you know what you're doing Pokemon like Farfetchd arent even that bad. It's stats arent the worst. Also any mon with setup moves is great. The only solo Pokemon challenges I kinda enjoy are those where they try to find out how fast can any Pokemon beat a certain game.

Okay, this is very funny. It's kind of like how almost every Fromsoft game challenge run is: "Can I beat Dark Souls with this low tier weapon?" Does it deal damage? Then yes, you probably can. People have beaten Souls games with NO weapons, no rolling, no levelling, etc. Beating the game with a broken straight sword doesn't impress me at this point.

There are some concerns with ammo or weapon breakage in specific runs, like if you're doing bow only or something and max amount of arrows in inventory literally isn't enough to kill the bosses, but yeah I agree. Fist only has benefits of speed and no breakage so things like Greatbows at SL1 could theoretically be more impossible if there's zero safe openings and the boss one-shots you.

This is true for most challenge run content on KZbin. You see this a lot with other popular challenge run games like Fallout, Skyrim, Minecraft, etc. It basically boils down to: "Can I beat X game using a slightly niche and suboptimal strategy". And the answer is always "yes" because most games are designed to be beaten by people who have no understanding of the meta. It's a very oversaturated market, which is a shame if you're looking for challenge run content which actually implements unique strategies and obscure meta knowledge. That stuff still exists but it's hard to find these days

Super effective recoil damage. , I died from super effective laughter. The music, the random suspense, the tropes, the sheer insanity, this was amazing. A few things you should add for the next one (of course there will be a next one, nuzlockers always do another). -spending 10 minutes talking about needing exact stats, a specific item, and pre-burn with guts, to one shot a mon only to then sacrifice your mon to get a clean switch in. -yelling at chat for giving you wrong info -losing a pokemon and spending 5 minutes talking about how it meant so much to you and you watched it grow up over the course of the last 2 fights before you misclicked explosion. -using the word "steer" every fight -taking 45 minutes to plan exactly where and when to catch certain pokemon just so you can have a 10% higher chance to catch one specific pokemon that will be a game changer, then not even getting that encounter later. -naming a pokemon something mean because you didn't want that encounter.

That was a rollercoaster of emotions, euphoric highs and heartbreaking lows. Every time your pokemon took damage, my heart sank; and every time, you pulled through and did damage to them.
